India’s phonemakers cry foul on Chinese rivals

Poor Indians can not afford AC buses due to low income.
Hence the following:
AC buses in Mumbai discontinued.
This is Modi's India.
And they are laughing upon neighbor a la Pakistan.
Summer scorcher: BEST AC buses off the road from today:

Are Indians too poor or just too cheap? Or is it both?

. .
Indians' purchasing power is extremely low.

Quote:
But the truth is, the premium smartphone market in India is extremely thin.

As per Gartner, the Average Selling Price (ASP) of smartphones in India is $70 and smartphones under $120 contribute around 50% of overall smartphone sales here.

Wow, $70 dollars? Are Indians really that poor? Just wow...

. .
I mean phase out all the non-AC buses in 2009. Not sure as I seldom take bus or mrt. I ever took this 700A bus once. So far I haven't sat on a non AC bus since 40+ years ago.

. .
How much the fare cost?

Very low:

A fare reduction by 50 per cent in July last year was the last throw of the dice and when even that did not change the bottom-lines of the AC operations, BEST authorities said there was no option but to scrap the service.

140 Rs = 2.10 USD for 40 KMs

. . .
It seems to be quite expensive for city bus rides. A bus ride in Chinese costs 2-3 RMB, about 20-30 Rs, and most of buses in city are air-conditioned.

140rs for 40km, how far is it for 2-3 rmb. As a senior citizen, I get to go anywhere in Singapore for $0.87 or around US$0.60 on a maximum of 5 connecting bus or 4bus+1mrt.

140 rs for 40km only? 140 rs is about 15 yuan. I know in Beijing that should get you about 75km, air-conditioned of course. Bus fares elsewhere in China should be cheaper.

In my home town, a tier-2 city, senior citizens do not have to pay for bus ride or park admissions.

I saw lots of photos of Indias riding on top of buses or hanging on the outside to avoid paying for fare. I wonder if they are too poor or too cheap to pay.
