India's nuclear ambition should not be ignored

I think thread starter this thread because it contained poverty and aid part ...... He only highlight these two points

But he ignore this

India has had nuclear weapons since 1974, A decade of sustained economic growth has allowed India's government to increase military spending by 13 per cent this fiscal year to around US$38bn

Whereas story in some other countries is a little disturbing because of the proliferation regime, right from getting missile technology from china and north korea to proliferating Nuclear tech to libya NK and Iran. Along with that India has neither been ruled by dictators nor has shown unilateral aggression against any other country.

So west can sit assured that India doesn't figure an any threat scenario to any one including china and it's proxies!!

There is a fine line between digesting and digressing.....didn't see any of this written in the subject article.

don't see ferraris parked in every corner in you country either, maybe we are poor, but still we command enough geo-political prowess to get our things done.

Neither does any one makes the same comparison of my country.
As for the Ferrari thingy, one could argue that we don't have that many child sweat shops either, but then the initial claim is also cheap banter.

This issue was raised in their and our parliaments. The comment is from Mr. Mukharji in Indian parliament. It was raised in British parliament to stop the aid to which thier PM refused.

There is a fine line :D if you know what you mean.

It's not only the amount of poor is considered. It's of total population percentage. India has poor population but India has rich and very rich population too. It doesn't matter when you see living standard index but it definately matters when India as nation is considered

It's not ambition actually, these are deterrents to be genuine. We don't want any war flaring up with our neighbours with whom we share disputed borders and in process cede our territory.
To ensure that these are minimum requisites. We won't halt till we are truly capable of mutual assured destruction with China in case of any war. SLBM with the range of 8000 km. loaded on our boomer lurking anywhere in Indian ocean would be the last deterrent we dearly want to posses in our arsenal to deter any bravado on the part of China. After achieving power equilibrium the waiting of four more years all border disputes would be resolved I guess. It is said that you can't get it through talks if are not able to get it through war.

' But today, India enjoys a de facto legitimacy for its nuclear programme. Washington even signed a civil nuclear co-operation deal with it in 2008.'

Ever wondered why?
If the world, especially your historic ally sees our program as legitimate, North korea, iran and pakistani programs will never recieve the same legitimacy as Indian muke/missile program, reasons are obvious.

Well, you are absolutely right, your country doesn't have many sweat shops, actually your country barely has any shops (sweat or otherwise). We will take care of our poor people in the way we can, still dont get what it has to do with the missile program, but atleast this is more civil than your usual threads!

the claim is british journalist said it, not pakistanis , and neither is the op stressing the point , he says go and complain to the writer, but he does profess his illusions of you and me typing our comments from a sub saharan huts in the slums, as long as it makes some of them happy, all iz well!!!!
