New Delhi: The government on Saturday named Eastern Army commander Lt Gen Bikram Singh as the next Indian Army Chief.

The announcement comes after months of the row over the date of birth of incumbent Gen VK Singh.

Lt Gen Bikram Singh currently heads the Army's eastern command and will take the top post on May 31 when Gen VK Singh will be retiring from service.

Not, this talk of politically backed Cheif is nonsense and there is no evidence for this at all. The Indian armed forces are notoriously apolitical and V K Singh has always maintained he will retire whenever GoI asks him to, he has been true to his word.

Not, this talk of politically backed Cheif is nonsense and there is no evidence for this at all. The Indian armed forces are notoriously apolitical and V K Singh has always maintained he will retire whenever GoI asks him to, he has been true to his word.

Just adding to it, he is getting the post on seniority basis not a political intervention.
Second, he is facing the charges of fake encounters in J&K too....

He is appointed based on age, hence I dont think it is political appointment(you can blame deepak kapoor though for this).

The J&K encounter thing has not come to much and is only an allegation which is not really directed at him purely as he was a commander at the time not directly involved.

May be, just believe in you as I am not much aware of that. But personally, really fed up from all these political scams, skirmish in defence forces.

Could not find any trustworthy key person like Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Abdul Kalam.....

I have gone through such an article but don't know if it is same

Even though it would be better as escalation prices due to delay can be avoided.

On Topic - How can a Sikh hold such a senior position in a Hindu majority country ? He must demand prosecution of Hindu leaders who led mobs to kill innocent Sikhs.Hindus are evil, definitely there is conspiracy behind it.
