Exactly the reason why India has all these dams built. Deny them the access and either your river go dry or may be flooded.
That threat has no teeth. They routinely flood us in the monsoon season every year. We know that the sluice gates in Gajaldoba Barrage over Teesta are 100% open during monsoon. So what could be any worse than that?
Flooding is not a huge deal in Bangladesh, sure we get a lot of water and people lose a few homes and arable land but India cannot threaten us with it.
We have leverage too. Plenty of them, and much more effective - but I digress.
India can redirect the water certainly. Few additional canals and this water will find its way into densely packed eastern UP and WB.
That costs money, and time. They planned that already. Good luck to India with that.
