Well, I believe India will eventually send their own astronauts in their own space crafts to space. But judging from the ground reality, it will not happen in foreseeable future, and certainly not according to ISRO's current "schedule".
This has been their problems in project management for long time. They don't have any concrete executable plan yet, and have not taken any solid step towards their goals, but their government officers have the big nerve to announce grandeur PLANS after PLANS with outrageous schedules to the public, and whole nation would then go frenzy and believe their "superpower" status is imminent.
They have done this over and over again, and the public never seem to be bored of this way of comforting and amusement. They are so used to this "Indian Scheduling" that once in a blue moon on-time success such as MOM, would be treated as the proof of the arrival of a "Super Power", and every Indian members feels the urge to bring up this example to try to balance out all criticism. If you dare to question their project management ability, there will be gangs of internet warriors to troll you to death. That is their way of defending "the honor of motherland".
I just wish our Indian friends could be more critical to their government organizations' mischief, rather than to defend indefensible. After all, India is a democracy, and every government officers should be held accountable.
