INDIA’S KOLKATA CLASS V/S CHINA’S TYPE-52D DESTROYER

.
Kolkata has lower IQ than Type 52d

After years of my tireless teaching here, it's good to see that finally another one starts to get the music. :D

But if you look closely, my young padawa, you'll notice the nature's golden ratio on the wall too :

Kolkata / Type 52d= 0.771429

.
both are very fine ships, quite modern anyway you look at it.

however individual ships mean nothing, in terms of national power. the 052D is made completely in-house and it is expected to be acquired in numbers greater than the Kolkata class. but then again neither ships was built in response to the other

. .
A Thread comparing an Indian and Chinese Platform, and yet 12 posts in no trolling? :help:

This is not acceptable!

At the time of posting, it was mid-night in China and late evening in India. Give it a day or two before Judging.

+ This section is not a favorite among Chinese.

Type 052D has better sonar than Kolkata, yes? Plus, correct me if I'm wrong, Type 052D is wider at 18 meters compared to Kolkata's 17 meters. Type 052D has better CIWS 30 mm Type 730 + FL-3000N Chinese RAM.

.
The VLS onboard 052D are very fexible, it can fit many types of missiles depend mission profile. Unlike Kolkata.

The 64 VLS of Type 052D are much bigger than MK41 VLS and not to each cell house bigger missile than the Barak8 missile. Future upgrade of missile onboard will not be so constraint by size. Plus the 052D house a bigger 130mm main gun compare to 76mm oto berata gun, taking up more space compare to Kolkata.
Indian VLS is not as versatile as Chinese is at the time if we go by Chinese forum claims about CCL cells. Kolkata is scheduled to get 126 MM main gun which will be equal to Chinese gun. 76 mm gun will be transferred to last line of frigates. Our boat has space allocated for 16 Bramhos and 8 Nirbhay missiles. While SAM system battery is going to be doubled in first upgradation. Our boat has lot of space for separate sensors if need arises.

No SONAR category India rules but RAM provides upper hand to Chinese.

he was mocking you. chinese here claim to have high IQs while they behave like retards. for eg you dont have the intelect to detect sarcasm, common problem among the lesser gifted

Air to Air Warfare , the lacking feature as of now even with Sole dependency on Barak-8,

will be needing a secondary AAW to overcome and outclass.

Radar range needs to be increased too.

@SpArK; w.r.t. AAW not really. THe OtoBreda 76MM works well in the AAW role too (better than a higher caliber gun-mount) just as the AK-630s (though somewhat long in the tooth) work well as CIWS. The LRSAM (Barak-8) works well in both short and long range modes. It is the LRSAM load-out that needs an increase. Till then; it is likely that a Kolkata will never operate alone, it will be at least paired with a Shivalik or Talwar. Note that it is outfitted for 'flagship' i.e. Task Force Command capability.
Now about the Radar Range; the full capability (including range) of the MF-STAR is still not disclosed. Also do keep in mind that Range on a ship/marine platform is a function of height of scanner (apart from band used, transmitter power etc) So that is a finite eventually. That is where the seamless integration of all sensors becomes important, whether air-borne, space-borne or surface-borne. That is where the real augmentation of Range can and is taking place.

They're non-comparable.

052D is in the class of Arleigh Burke, both are amongst the best in the world.

Overall speaking 052D is inside world's top 3, at least top 5, in its category.

Kolkata? well, a Chinese 054 A can smoke Kolkata at any day of week, easily!

Not every similar shells or weight classes are comparable. It depends on what are inside the shells!

NONE of Kolkata's key technologies is produced by India.

ALMOST ALL of Kolkata's key technologies are, and worse still "will be", imported 2nd or 3rd rate systems.

ALL of 052D's key technologies are produced by China.

ALMOST ALL of 052D's key technologies are amongst the best in the world.

Kolkata VS 052D comparison is actually an insult to the Chinese ship.

Kolkata VS 052D is like a wanna-be child vs a Mike Tyson.

What is 052D?

A single 052D at its full potential with right missile setup can send the entire Indian destroyer&frigate fleet into the bottom of Indian Ocean.

Chinese are known for copying the tech.

Made in and produced in China means inferior.

Chinese have limited access to the advanced tech from the west, India do not have that problem reason why India goes for the best of the best available out there and integrates them on to Indian platforms.

Indian do not need to hurriedly pirate or copy the tech. they can go for JV's and then start R&D here in India after gaining experience.

Our foundation and model is superior to Chinese model in tech development.

Now time to read some truth.

Type 52c Destroyer

Propulsion: Ukranian and German
The first two ships' propulsion is in the form of CODOG, consisting of two Ukraine-made DA80/DN80 gas turbines each rated at ~32,600 hp(24 MW) and two Shaanxi diesel engines (Chinese licensed production of the MTU 20V956TB92 (German)) each rated at ~6,700 hp (5 MW). The DA80/DN80 gas turbine is the export version of UGT-25000 of Ukrainian Zorya-Mashprocket State State Enterprise Gas Turbine Research & Production Complex, purchased by China in the late 1990s as part of license-production in China. [1]The UGT25000 has power rating of 25-27MW depending on configuration [2], but could only provide 24MW upon delivery because development was not fully completed when they were sold to China. A total of eight units were originally purchased and Chinese sources have claimed that all had been upgraded, mainly in the area of turbine blade production techniques, and such update had greatly increased reliability and maintainability.

Radar: Ukranian origin

The August 2009 report from the Office of Naval Intelligence states that “the Luyang II DDG possesses a sophisticated phased-array radar system similar to the western AEGIS radar system.” 2009 ONI Report, p. 1. Another author states that “the Chinese bought their active-array destroyer radar from the Ukrainian Kvant organization, which is unlikely to have the resources to develop the project much further.” (Norman Friedman, “Russian Arms Industry Foundering,” U.S. Naval Institute Proceedings, September 2009: 90-91.

Armament: Ex Soviet, French
HQ9: Copy of Russian S-300V
Cruise Missiles: Made with the help of ex Soviet scientists

Type 210 100mm naval gun: Modified copy of French 100mm Naval Gun

Type 730 CIWS: External design copy of Dutch Goalkeeper, Internal copy of French, Sagem Volcan.

ASW Capabilites: French, European
Sonar:
Modified French DUBV-23 sonar

Helicopters : Russian Kamov Ka-28 or Z9 (Chinese copy of Eurocopter Dauphin)

Indigenous Chinese destroyer eh :azn:. More like the United Nations destroyer :omghaha:

"superior to Chinese model in tech development"? :omghaha:

Have you already fingured it out how modern indoor-plumbing works then?

.
Chinese and their delusions !!

Chinese economic miracle is over even before their tech. revolution started.

Now they cannot even do the sweet shop business because of high wages, they will become a huge consumer economy and depend on other countries for imports.

Kolkata class has the space to fit more sensors and missiles. The only disadvantage is the anti air missiles, which will be over come once the barak platforms are tested and ready for deployment.

Radar and ASW wise India got the hands on the best tech. and are trying to indigenize and start the R&D from here.
