India's Jet Airways collapses as banks pull the plug

. .
Just shows how dumb your education was that you compare a computer with $800m on a cathedral.

Just shows you think it's the duty of rich Arabs to give charity but you yourself are not even willing to sell your computer to feed a child.

. . . .
Indian banks are also collapsing...and needed a bailout. What is going on in India, a rising Hindutva means a collapsing India??

I dont India is still a very poor country like most of south Asia
It still is. Tgere is abject poverty in large parts. But ican say that i have seen abject poverty in south India in 80s but not today. Until we have about 6 to 7 tr dollar economy we're are still poor.

This was the most expensive airline with a full old fashioned service side. Excellent service but couldn't compete with the low cost airlines.
Survival of the fittest. They should have changed their business model to face competition.
The old must die so that new blood comes forward.

Agreed

I have travelled with them twice, and found their service quite good actually.

It is not like this... The issue is SHEER VOLUME OF NEGLIGENCE AND MISMANAGEMENT...

the downfall of India's oldest private airline started of with the purchase of Sahara Airlines in 2007... they paid INR 1450 crore which was too much and never recovered from it...

If my info is correct... they tried everything... from 50% salary cut to selling flight tickets in advance... selling stake to Etihad Airways in 2013 to restructure the loans...

But every time they ended up with digging a bigger pit to fill old pit... and new government was up against the underworld don Dawood Ibrahim... so it was easy for them to puterficate his investment...

You also need to understand the Spicejet story... how political interests worked in India...

I don't find any difference between the services provided by Spicejet, Indigo or jet on domestic routes...
In domestic market, only Vistara is a good service provider in my view...
