India's heaviest satellite GSAT-10 launched successfully

Do you think Agni V is made by ISRO ? You dont have right to speak about DRDO . It has been supporting Indian Armed Forces since its birth by providing weapons and R&D in weapons . When GSLV fails you wont criticize ISRO but when a DRDO project fails because we need DRDO badly . ISRO is directly under PMO while DRDO is in the control of MOD . All the thing ISRO need to do is make a vehicle and payload . DRDO too does that , make a missile , make a payload . But it has many tasks to do with . Although they have been divided among various R&D labs , still it needs resources .

mate I have nothing against DRDO , what i m saying is that there is general perception among Indians (mainly on PDF) that ISRO is the best govt. organisation in India (b'coz of kudos it brings to India). Yes DRDO has done great work in it's own field & i m proud of that, We need DRDO as much as we need ISRO, but DRDO should get more autonomy & budget as the ISRO gets.

BTW, every missile program of DRDO (not just A-5) has it's roots in ISRO's tech. ISRO developed the tech. for launch vehicle which is obviously dual-use tech. so could be used to develop our missiles of DRDO. IGMDP (integrated guided missile development project) was itself built on the success of ISRO's rocket technology. IGMDP was started in 1980s, headed by Dr. Abdul Kalam who was earlier heading the ISROs SLV-3 program.

What i just want to convey is that ISRO is more professional organisation than DRDO since the former is governed by scientists while latter is more in the hands of politicians than scientists.

BANGALORE: India's advanced communication satellite GSAT-10 was successfully launched early today on board Ariane-5 rocket from Europe's spaceport in French Guiana.

GSAT-10, with a design life of 15 years is expected to be operational by November and will augment telecommunication, Direct-To-Home and radio navigation services.

At 3,400 kg at lift-off, GSAT-10 is the heaviest built by Bangalore-headquartered Indian Space Research Organisation. It was ISRO's 101st space mission.

Arianespace's heavy lifting Ariane-5 ECA rocket launched GSAT-10 about 30 minutes after the blast off from the European launch pad in South America at 2.48 am, prior to which it injected European co-passenger ASTRA 2F into orbit.

GSAT-10 is fitted with 30 transponders (12 Ku-band, 12 C-band and six Extended C-Band), which will provide vital augmentation to INSAT/GSAT transponder capacity.

It also has a navigation payload - GAGAN (GPS aided Geo Augmented Navigation) -- that would provide improved accuracy of GPS signals (of better than seven metres) to be used by Airports Authority of India for civil aviation requirements.

This is the second satellite in INSAT/GSAT constellation with GAGAN payload after GSAT-8, launched in May 2011. :smokin:

Congratulation.
Does India have any plans to launch satellites from own sole?

most sats are launched from our own territory. the heavier ones are temporarily launched abroad while we develop bigger launch vehicles

.
Not very happy that it was launched by Europeans. My patience is running out now, and Isro is just keeps delaying. They said in 2003 mk3 will lift off in 2008 then 09 then 10 then 011 then 012 then 013.

In the beginning of the year they say it will be launched this year end, when end comes they say is ready to be launched early next year in first quarter and this way they have trolled us for last 5 yrs.

Enough is enough!

Big Mouth :tdown::hitwall:

Yes it does. But heavy ones can't be launched from India.

Light ones? We launch other countries' sats, so that's no biggy.
