Now I always appreciated the Indian effort for making a successful Multi-role helicopter. Everything about it seemed "Right". But if you didn't already know, It's a complete RIP-OFF!

Yes, It's ALMOST a TOTAL rip-off of the Kawasaki BK-117 and "Eurocopter EC-145" (Which is a variant of the BK-117). A MASSIVE Design failure on the Indian part. Couldn't they have come up with something a BIT more original?

Here's a couple of images that would give you folks a better idea of what I'm talking about ... After all, Images speak louder than words. You be the judge...

Kawasaki BK-117 - First flight in 1979. Introduced in 1982

It sure as hell makes sense now. There's no DOUBT that it's not their indigenous design. Even a blind person can see that . Oh well! HAL Should hire a professional designer. Seriously!

Erm, not really. Both helicopters have a "conventional" design, but I can see plenty of obvious differences.

I think the next Indian helicopter should be designed like a flying-saucer in order to keep Pakistani fanboys from making allegations - or perhaps then they'll claim that the design was stolen from aliens!

well,

For nit pickers ,HAL Dhruv is very simillar looking to all chopper of the class be its EC 145 ,MBB/Kawasaki BK 117 , MD Explorer,Agusta A109 ,Bell 427 ...now only if they had forseen the concern of some pakistanis ,they may have tried to design HAL Dhruv which looked like TATAs nano car.

May be reverse..:cheesy: Dhruv's first flight is on 1992 and EC-145's 1999. Both introduced in 2002.

Designs tend to changes on their due course.

Pakistani Fanboys? Why do you always insist on sounding like a complete Imbecile? This isn't the right thread for that.

In helicopter developments, Designs are a HUGE factor, reflecting originality of their respective region. That's exactly why if you look at aviation history, every other helicopter has been different from each other. Everyone could've ripped off each other's designs if they wanted to, but "Original" nations tend to stay away from such rip-off's so that they don't come out looking "Empty headed". Which is the case here with India.

India should simply give up using the word "Indigenous".

My Mistake. HAL Dhruv is a TOTAL rip-off of Kawasaki BK-117 AND EC-145.

Oh and by the way, Dhruv doesn't look ANYTHING Like the Agusta A-109 and Bell-427.

Should serve as a great insight for all the [Sarcasm]"Dhruv" Fanboys"[/Sarcasm] who didn't know this. It's a great heli, No doubt, but I've seen people calling it a completely "Indigenous" design.

People could say the same for the JF-17. I dare say you've compared the extremely similar specs and appearance of the JF-17 and F-20 Tigershark?

JF-17 looks like the F-20 TigerShark to you? Lol! Secondly, We're not talking about the Specifications here. Only the design. HAL DHRUV's design.

. . .
European Helicopter

-indigenous
-reliable
-always a success

Indian "Helicopter"

-cheap copy
-if lucky, engine starts
-failure ( Synonym for India's inventions)

ORIGINAL:--> Own work, pretty good

FAILURE:--> Cheap decoration peace, copied and a failure

SO HOW DO U CALL CHINESE INVENTIONS COPIES? AT LEAST THEY WORK! AND PLEASE LEARN TO COPY, YOU WILL HAVE TO DO IT PRETTY OFTEN IN FUTURE ;)
