India’s grand plan to create world’s longest river set to go

We are wasting large portion of water in the form of floods, and mostly it is going in ocean.
Big dams are inevitable for us too.

Yes, may be big dam or small dam but water conservation is very important. My nephew is M. Tech from IIT Chennai. He left a top class job at the age of 26 to do social work. He told me how flood comes. He said that he studied an area near Pune. Few years ago, Soil was very pours and used to hold 170 KG water per 100 KG of soil. Because of synthetic fertilizers, Porosity diminished and now it is just 30 KG per 100 KG of soil. Because of this soil is unable to hold rain water and flood comes. After some time soil dries down and we need water for harvest as very low water was hold by soil.

We need to look at the issue very minutely. Some time solutions lies in simple measure and not in very high caital insentive big measure.

Excellent post.

The solution is earthworms, cowdung and cow urine and not Urea. But truth is that in rural India we hardly get to see cows nowadays. Like urea, its easier to sell them for 'beef' and leather and make a quick buck than build a sustainable and profitable Ecosystem.

I talked to my nephew on same subject too. He told me that since when we started using tractor, A lots of microorganism and earth worm dies because of 2 ton weight of tractor and process of getting soil pours stops. Best way is bio fertilizer with farming with bullock.

Jain ? :D

. . . . .
If you are a beef eater, then how are you a 'brahmin' ?
less dogma more freedom, free will ftw. :)

you should try some steak someday and not worry about earthworms being murdered by tractors.

You are a Dalit and I acknowledge you as one.
why, you look down on those guys ? am I supposed to be offended ?

Why should you be "offended" ?

You are a Dalit and should be proud of being one instead of Lying about being a "brahmin" just to gain respect.

Take pride in being who you are my Dalit friend.

BTE Thank you for your free advice, but I have found that those who give desperate advice are the one's who need them the most.

Finally, Freedom to kill and plunder is not really a "freedom" in any really civilised world. It works only in Barbaric societies. The kind we call Asuras.

Good points. I suggest you look up the late Mr Bhaskar Save's letter to the then PM. It is a gem.
