Gaganyaan Mission involves sending a 3-member crew on board a heavy rocket to an altitude of 350-400 km and orbit around the planet for conducting experiments in space during a week-long voyage.
New Delhi, June 12: The Indian Air Force (IAF) is all set to screen and pick 10 potential crew members in the next two months for Gaganyaan Mission, the country's prestigious maiden human mission to space. According to a report by TOI, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) chairman K Sivan said that the space agency will choose the final three astronauts from the 10 people which will be trained for the mission by the IAF. In February, Sivan had said that the first two levels of training will happen at the IAF’s Institute of Aerospace Medicine (IAM) in Bengaluru, and the final phase of training will be abroad.

TOI report, Sivan said ISRO also tested CE-20 engine which will carry the Indian astronauts to space. Giving details about the role of IAF, DRDO and Indian Navy, Sivan said, the IAF will handle crew selection and training, the DRDO will provide the life support system for crew while the Navy will help in recovering the human capsule once it re-enters the atmosphere and splashes down in sea. About Gaganyaan Mission

Gaganyaan, India's maiden manned mission, is a Rs 9,023-crore ambitious project. It involves sending a 3-member crew on board a heavy rocket to an altitude of 350-400 km and orbit around the planet for conducting experiments in space during a week-long voyage. The NDA government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi had on December 28, 2018 approved the country's first human space flight programme.

In his Independence Day address on August 15, 2018, the Prime Minister had announced that ISRO will send three astronauts, including a woman, in a capsule into space around the earth's orbit for a week-long rendezvous by December 2021 or 2022, which marks the country's 75th year of independence.

---

It is good that they will be carrying a woman. Additionally, one of the three crew members should be a civilian.

Lastly, I wish that India's ISRO and Pakistan's SUPARCO could collaborate in some capacity.

I don't know what will they achieve by sending them in space.

Which capacity SUPARCO could collaborate in? They'll ask for access to technology while will deny access to their systems citing espionage.

They did it just a couple of years ago.

Well, I am sure there can be some mutual platform for learning together.

It is my dream to see a manned space program which will see the coming together of South Asia, South America, Russia, West Asia, Africa, South East Asia and Central Asia.

What was the incident ??

Are you talking about the South Asia Satellite ??

Congratulations to India! Great achievement!
All free peoples should build space station without any West involvement. And explore Solar system together. Russia has technologies and is ready to share them with everyone.

There are plenty of other countries to collaborate with. We've already announced that other countries will be allowed to fly on our space habitat.

Collaboration is a sign of unity and goodwill. There is no point of unity with a country whose foundation is exclusivity and hate towards Indian union.
Seriously, is this echo chamber of PDF any less vitroilic against India. Look at pathetic trolling at every Indian advancement and putting individual cases of crime to just defame India here (statistically worse place is Pakistan).

Suppose the reaction of fanboys in case any stupid Prime Minister of India invites them for flying together.

That's only possible with one world government. Most of countries neither have interest, nor tech. It's mostly West, Russia, East Asia & India.

South Asia is nothing more than a group of secessionist offsprings of Indian civilization, minus India South Asia amounts to nothing. South Americans have reasonable collaboration with West, Russians and Chinese are happy themselves, India busy collecting more feathers in cap while demising it's collaboration with gradual advances in self reliance, JAXA is as cozy as ESA with NASA added it's own space tech, ROK is developing, Africa is here just like in other fields, Southeast Asians are doing good in collaborations, Central Asia itself is satellite for Russia. Alone, itself it amounts to nothing.

Countries have their own preferences and point of views. Some countries like their systems over others. And not willing to change it. Some have worked hard to get what they have. They deserve it.

So better not make a useless mess. World will fly together when every country will have same socio economic level and democracy.
What was the incident ??

Yup

So are they officially gonna be called as astronauts? Personally, I like the sound of cosmonaut.

Tell me, will anybody volunteerily be ready for that or the selection will take place on gun point?

Gaganauts or Vyomanauts
They're both unique but doesn't sound.....spacey :cheesy: ??? At least not to anyone who doesn't speak local languages. Maybe we should change the suffix to match the dialect of the prefix rather than add 'nauts' at the end.

This is not the selection process for finance minister of Pakistan .

Personally, I like the sound of cosmonaut.

Me too.

Before the actual crewed mission there will be uncrewed test missions. Obviously.

That's only possible with one world government. Most of countries neither have interest, nor tech. It's mostly West, Russia, East Asia & India.

Well, even a smaller country like Algeria has a government space program.

Secondly, there is the SCO ( Shanghai Cooperation Organization ) under whose international umbrella such crewed space missions can be carried out.

JAXA is as cozy as ESA with NASA added it's own space tech

Which is why I hadn't included JAXA in my previous country list.

ROK is developing

There is the DPRK's space program which is still in early stage. And let us not forget Iran.

I hope the mission will be a success. ISRO has also had cooperation with Indonesia space agency, Lapan. India will be the next Asian who can send man to space after China.
