A policeman in Tamil Nadu, Vetrivale who is a Sub Inspector of police in Tirunelvelli, lies on the road begging for help. His legs have been chopped off by gangsters. A government convoy passes by this part of Tirunelvelli. It includes two ministers - for Sports and Health - in the Tamil Nadu government.

The convoy stopped, but neither of the ministers steps out. A Collector who was with them finally gets out of his car after dithering for eight minutes. But nobody offers to take the wounded inspector to hospital.

Finally, an ambulance was summoned, but it never arrived. Twenty minutes later, the cop was placed in one of the cars (the ministers still did not offer theirs). By the time he arrived at hospital, he had lost a huge amount of blood. He died. So when did the two ministers step out of their cars? Only after the policeman was moved from location and taken to hospital.

Tamil Nadu's Health Minister is M R K Panneerselvam . The Minister for Environment and Sports is Thiru T P M Mohideen Khan.

The video is shot by a free lance cameraperson who was covering the ministers' visit. It contains disturbing images and is not suitable for children.

Cop begged for help but no one cared

Shocking..

If the 'Health' minister doesn't know that excess bleeding leads death, he doesn't deserve the post.

It's inhumane.. and should be made ILLEGAL

Those who present there as spectators must be punished. How can anyone watch this without doing anything.

Absolutely pathetic. But it shouldn't surprise anyone. Our politicians, regardless of which party they belong to, are pieces of ****

The title of this thread should have been " India's expendable Politicians & bureaucrats'.

These men do not deserve to live. The Police should refuse to provide security to those who stood by & watched as their colleague bled to death.

The clips on TV are shocking to watch.

It nearly made me cry and couldn't see the whole video. How could they have left him die in such pain and misery is out of my understanding.

He was a human being, even when we see a cat or any other animal wounded or killed on sides of roads, we feel sorry for those poor animals and wish we can or could have done something for it.

In this case, he was a living human being, its disgusting.

I hope and pray the people who were present there and did nothing go through the same misery this poor guy went through before he died so that the world sees an example of them. It must have been a very very painful death.

An utter disgrace on the face of humanity.

Will 'scared' TN ministers be brought to book?

A day after the nation was shocked by images of Tamil Nadu Ministers who refused to help a dying policeman, there's neither an apology nor the slightest sign of remorse from the ministers.

The Ministers were mute spectators -- Sub Inspector R Vetrivel was brutally attacked with bombs and then hacked with sickle by goons as he was travelling on his motorbike.

The State Ministers who saw the cop writhing in pain were too afraid to step out of their cars. The Sub Inspector finally died on his way to the hospital.

Yet neither an appology nor a slightest sign of remorse seems to have come from the ministerial spectators for their act of cowardness.

The life of Tamil Nadu sub inspector R Vetrivel might have been saved had the ministers shown some strength and acted on time.

Vetrivel was left on the road side, agonized and bleeding, crying for help but what the ministers present at the site did was to wait in their cars for an ambulance.

And now the ministers refuse to even accept their fault and apologise and there seems to be no one who can bring these scared minister to book.

Forget politicians .. there's dozens of people making a tamasha out of it and not one coming forward to help out a bleeding man

Cop attacked, murdered; ministers helpless: IBNLive.com > Videos

Is this what society has come to ?

We have become an insensitive society. The politicians we elect are a reflection of our society.

I'm not a fan of the police in general but these are the same policemen who protect these scum. Kick them out of office. No apology will suffice.

Few points must be mentioned here:

1. The mininsters convoy stopped at the site...it didnt move on leaving the cop dying on the secluded high way.

2.The ministers didnt come out of his car at advise of his security personals since the nature of the incident wasnt very clear, but there were enough guards who came out offered the injured cop water and called for the ambulance as its clearly mentioned in the news clips.

3.Since the ambulance was late .So the injured cop was taken to the hospital in one of the police vehicle that was par tof the convey...something that is aganist protocol and can be done only atern the assurance of the ministers himself.

Its very unfortunate that the cop died later on in the hospital ,but lets not blame the ministers who were obiviously dint not come prepared for incident they saw on the highway.

Why did they stop??? Just to watch tamasha???

According to official report, it was the Collector who called for the ambulance and when ambulance did not arrive even after 20 minutes the injured SI was sent to a hospital in a private car. Of course, waiting for an ambulance for 20 minutes when the SI was in such a serious condition is beyond me.

Protocol? :hitwall: They could have break the protocol before 25 minutes.

Ministers could have done a lot! For starters, they could have immediately carried the SI in their car to the hospital (with their sirens)

We may have our differences but what happened to this Policeman is a crime against humanity. He loved life as much as we do and how he was desperately reaching out for help and collapsing made it gut wrenching to watch. The mentality of those standing around and merely watching is difficult to comprehend. One wonders what nightmares his family must have gone through after watching their dear one dying so helplessly.

What u are takig about are ideal situations.....on the other hand we live in country where both cops and politicains do face threats fronm different terror groups including moaists and LTTE who have presense in TamilNadu.

It wasn't a case of road accident where u can immdiately rush for help. That cop was reported attacked by gang of crinmals and there was bomb blasts.

Obiviously the guards took precuation and kept the ministers inside the car.In other cases ,the convey wouldnt have even stopped at the crime scene let alone help ht victim.

The Collector was coming with the minister's convey.

Some people go above and beyond in times of crisis. The threat was asertained within minutes of arriving at the horrid scene. I guess some people are depraved of basic human emotion. In this case they will have to live with their decision in not helping to save a life. I am also guessing they will sleep as they always have.
