India is going all out to strengthen defence ties with Sri Lanka despite objections from Tamil Nadu chief minister Jayalalithaa.
After army chief General Bikram Singh visited the island state last month, chairman chiefs of staff committee and Air Chief Marshal NAK Browne hosted a 10- member high-powered delegation led by Sri Lankan chief of defence staff Air Chief Marshal WDRMJ Goonetileke recently.
At least in this one case national interest seems to have taken precedence over domestic politics.
