We must increase our defence budget to 70 billion for the next decade... Pakistan has already increased its budget by 11%... Pakistan is becoming bigger power than India... As this article notes India has no there option to come par on Pakistan... So increase of defence budget a must

India has no wish to invade or conquer pakistan. But if war happens India will just strike back and watch. India can recover from economic shock but pakistan will struggle hard.
indian total military active manpower strength is 1.3 million while Pakistan is maintaining a half of it which is 620,000 india has a border of 3,380 km with china, further they share 4000 plus km border with bangladesh as well as they have a border of 1643km with mayamar etc. do you think india will divert all of its military manpower and its resources toward pakistan ? to win the war?

The planners have taken China and other potential threats into account a decade back. The planned bare minimum deterrence is still a long way away. Given the size of India and it's economy and threat perception, it's planners have planned a bare minimum level of force.

Due to sanctions, China took a different route of copying and clandestinely reverse engineering tech - though even their major force is still dealing with obsolete weaponry but are modernising at a faster clip. India took the more direct route of JV's and TOT's.

Long range missiles and nuke subs should not really concern Pakistan. .even a single stage prithvi missile covers Pakistani territory. These are being developed with future potential threat in mind.

I don't entirely agree with the article vis a vis Ind Pak - on a one to one - I doubt anyone has any apprehensions of who would come out on top.

During conflict, the industrial complex and the source of armament comes into play, India is well positioned to procure much much more in urgent need if it requires.

This is a strategic study based on well known facts, it states that neither India nor Pakistan can be the winner, they will come to a stand still and diplomacy will take over!!!

India will need at least a 2:1 ratio in every aspect of the armed forces to be able to think that it can overwhelm Pakistan.. but, for example, General Montgomery took that to 10:1 ratio to be able to overwhelm and defeat field Marshal Rommel and his special troops in the Lybian desert during WW2..And it only became possible after the overwhelming ratio of the Soviets and the US for an average ratio of more than 6:1 over German armed forces.. meaning that India has to have very strong allies willing to get involved in a war alongside it, otherwise it will always be a stand still, since Pakistan armed forces are always narrowing that gap and won't let india get that minimum ratio of 2:1, it is about numbers and science of warfare balance..
Pakistan also have missiles capable of reaching every part of India, so the real concern is about the second strike capabilities assured by the nuclear subs..

i think mod should lock this thread since it is going off topic, rather than information it is causing hatred

Part 2:

Moreover, it is alleged that large numbers of the Indian army’s fleet of tanks are nearing obsolescence and unable to operate at night
Wrong.

70% of tanks had Night fighting capability in 2012, now it should be 80 %

However, India lack Arty and modern Air defense.

As for balance of Power, India never had the overwhelming conventional superiority over Pakistan but it didn't change the outcome of any war/conflict be it 65, 71, siachen or Kargil.

Pak was the 1st Nation in South Asia to have 4th Gen Jet, Submarine, better Artilery, US Radars like AN/TPQ 36 or large no of Pattons etc etc

Wrong,

India had the support of the commonwelth nations with modern weapons from all of them too, plus Russia.. I won't go into the nuclear technology subjet, but you shoul know from where it came to India..
All the conflicts you have mentionned had different results and depending on the sources they have conflicting reports..But the same result, a stand still..
For air defense both india and Pakistan are in the same position , although the latest news confirms indian purchase of the S-400, I think Pakistan will get the latest version of the Chinese long range missiles too.
Artillery is very important in a coventional conflict, I think PAK has an advantage in there.

@The SC

Any source India had the support of Commonwealth nations and Pak didn't ?

Also do tell us what were the Russian equivalent arms which India had compared with what i mentioned above.

When Pak inducted F 16, India only had Point defense fighter Mig 21.

During Kargil war Pak had Arry locating Radar AN/TPQ 36 while India had nothing of that sort.

.
The military build up is needed in India for several reasons..

One modernisation of obsekete equipment.
Bigger navy to protect the growing trade with Indies very large economy and finally to have some ability to avoidprevent evil.intention like kargil or 1962'ever happening again.

The programme has only just started ask the question in 2025
