India's arable land is far higher than China. But why China is the world's largest rice producing?

Strangely, some India members show of India's arable land is two times of the China.
Unfortunately, India members can not explain -- China is the world's largest rice producing.
Indians don't eat rice?
Not just rice, they also produce less wheat, soybean, vegitable oil, cotton, fish, literally everything agriculture..

No wonder their people suffer so much from starvation..

I was elated when that video went viral in China...it was seeing China from going 75% Scientific to 100% Scientific

Yes, India cannot or WILL not abandon tradition for modernity because of a false sense of pride and arrogance...that would be its undoing...and I think if things go on like this the Indian-Union won't survive this century and would break up into smaller entities.....with some parts choosing modernity, progress,Scientific Method, refutation of the Supernatural and others choosing more of the same

Now Indian posters would now get butthurt and tell you about the scientific achievement of India of India since Independence while completely missing the point

The Scientific achievements of India were pulled off by the cognitively top 1-2% of India...put that 2% in the middle of a malaria infested jungle in Africa and they would still create paradise

it is the bottom 98 percent that is stuck in superstition, religion, belief in the supernatural, stagnation, non-scientific mindset etc etc

Now Indians will say that Westerners believe in the supernatural too
But the belief in the supernatural in India is different in quality and also a few orders of magnitude higher than in West

The Yogis and Babas enjoy the money(often billions) and wives of Indians by demonstrating few magic tricks and then claiming they are getting their supernatural powers from Yoga or God

The country has absolutely no tradition of Critical Thinking and Rational Questioning

This is exactly the reason why India won't be the next super power of the world. India has the potential but at the same time it lacks the necessary skilled man power to do the job.

That's how fecked up the political leadership has become there, Classic example the former president and tin pot dictator Mahinda Rajapaksa called elections ironically to his demise two years ahead of end of his term because his soothsayer advised him to, Now the PDF Indian key board warriors like to think the RAW had a hand in regime change but in fact it was because the pissants that's at the leadership of the country has become so superstitious, That include the current regime

I guess being unimaginably corrupt make these buffoons believe that only the super natural can save them

Buddhism in Sri Lanka is altogether a different animal, It has become so politicized especially the Sangha.. It's become a often corrupt violent tool in nationalism than what the philosophy the lord Buddha preached

On topic though.. India is actually self sufficient in food production.. But due to corruption and stoic bureaucracy most of it gets destroyed at storage and transportation and does not end up with the consumer

What you said was factually incorrect. Mahinda called for the elections based on his political calculations. Though the superstitions might have had played a little part specially when choosing the exact date to hold the election.

Well, as a matter of fact. It is rather unwise to blame Buddhism for what Sinhala people are doing in their day to day lives. Buddhism is in fact a philosophy not a doctrine to teach how people should live their lives. People will reap what the saw accordingly.

@Two Nope the fundamental struggle is not about "tradition" but rather about "The Scientific Method".....If the Han Revival system doesnot inculcate a type of thinking in children that opposes "The Scientific Method" then Yes tradition is good and may be beneficial in terms of imparting a sense of racial pride in youth (which is also absolutely important)

But if Chinese when going back to tradition again start promoting "chi" based martial arts OR "chi" based medical philosophies then I am afraid they are rushing headlong back into the pre-modern era

I hope there is a modicum of scientific belief among the Chinese..for example what do you think happens to you when you die? I think most Chinese belief that they stop existing after death...is that true? if that is true that is an excellent excellent starting point to build a highly scientific society not unlike say Japan or Scandanavia ..I personally think after death I will return to the state I was in before I was born-Absolutely Nothing

Now the problem with India is India's tradition mean the following things:

1) Belief that Astrologers and Indian Astrology can correctly predict the life course of an individual
2) That the Indian Pantheon of Gods take an active interest in the fate of individual Indian Lives and would change them for the better, if you pray to them or worship them ----------------this is so comical if Indian Gods love India or Indian people so much, why didnot they stop the repeated invasions from the Steppes and Central Asia from 200 BC to 1761 AD

3) That Indian Yogis and Holy men hold immense hold immense spiritual power on the basis of their celibacy, spiritual asceticism, meditation, mantra chanting

4) They can use this spiritual powers to show magical superpowers, bless people with money, bend time and the nature of reality, change the fortune of a person, group of people or even whole nations

5) These Yogis can routinely break the laws of physics, levitate, go without food and water forever

6) Yogis donot defecate and even if they do their excreta magically fly off in the air to heaven ...It is basically wandering vagabond Yogis who popularized open defecation in India

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

when you have this sort of insane traditional beliefs, it cannot ever be good..and regarding Han revival be always vigilant about creeping non-scientific mindset and intrusion of magical thinking

else all the gains you guys have made would quickly vanish into the air..But I feel as long as 90% of Chinese believe that they stop existing at death--------nobody can shake the scientific foundations of China
Sorry, my mother pulled out the WiFi interface. And I just woke up...
I'll simply answer your question.
1. Most Chinese are afraid of ghosts. And we have a lot of “taboos”.
2. There is nothing about reincarnation or hell in confucianism.
3. The Han culture movement is mainly clothing, etiquette, musical instruments and confucianism.
4. The Han culture movement is more respect for ancestors.

5. In addition to the Han culture movement. Taoism is also reviving.

Conclusion: Chinese tradition pays attention to self-cultivation. There's not so much about reincarnation.

@SOUTHie Do you really know Chinese culture?

Ohh yesss

Indians have a Deathly Belief in Ghosts and bad omens, it debilitates them

There should be a massive rational mindset inculcation campaign

The Large Hadron Collider as well as the Standard Model of Particle Physics just rules out any existence of Ghosts or the Soul (that survives death)

You know how I see it and how I will rail against this collective spiritual mumbo-jumbo madness?

An elite group of South Asian expats should reach their full potential abroad...then leave their spouse and adult children there and come back to South Asia at age 60-65..and then fully engage themselves in the frontlines by doing critical thinking seminars and debunking of psychic phenomena in LOCAL languages....some sort of South Asian James Randi if you will...and if we get killed in the process by superstitious goons, then no problem as it would be a life well lived ...I can afford to die post 60-65 violently as I would have achieved most of my professional life goals by then

Easier said than done mate.. The electorates have also become brainless sheep that continue to reelect uneducated goons to rule over them, Just look at most of the posters here itself both from India and Sri Lanka who are blind followers of particular politicians

Only a social revolution can change the mind set, And that wont happen in our lifetimes, People are still living in a servile feudal societies

Tai-Chi is not a combative martial arts. That fight was a publicity show, it's apple fighting orange. If he was serious, he would've challenged combative/strike style kung fu like Xing Yi Quan, Wing Chun....or even Sanshou (Chinese style MMA)

Yes, we believe that ghosts exist in the world. Or another statement —— the mysterious magnetic field.
Another traditional China recovering and popular - Feng Shui(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feng_shui)
OK, China is almost beginning to restore all traditions...
We don't believe God, we believe our ancestors.

The point was not that..Any Chinese Martial Arts system that acknowledges only the scientific description of the world and human body is perfectly valid--Wing Chun and Chinese MMA are perfectly valid as they are more like Boxing and MMA

But any sort of "chi" martial art is NOT VALID..as "chi" based martial arts claim that some sort of spiritual electro-magnetic energy is flowing from your balls up your spine and into the whole body outwards to the entire Universe
......That cultivating it will give you immense Superpower that even as a diminutive frail-framed person (like the ones you see in old kung-fu films) , you can fight and defeat Brock Lesnar like its sipping morning tea....you can move mountains, you can kill enemies with energy burst from a distance etc etc

---I am sorry...the concept of "chi" is unscientific and scientific Chinese understand that and they want to destroy this concept and any martial arts associated with it.....so yes These sort of Fights HAVE TO HAVE TO take place

"chi" concept has no place in modern China..you should be proud that Chinese themselves are transforming the nation and not some foreigner

In addition, Buddhism and Taoism are also concerned. There's a popular saying in China recently:

When the country is in turmoil, the Taoists serve the country and help the people. But the monks hid in the temple.

When the country is prosperous, the Taoists live in seclusion, but the monk Go out to cheat.

My point is, that fight was a publicity show, not a good analogy to use.

No real Chinese martial artist uses Chi to fight/generate superpower, that's for Wuxia novels and movies. It's not scientifically proven of course. However, Chinese martial arts, combative and non-combative, do believe in chi generated from diaphragm has some energy--akin to vocal/singing training. This is stemmed from the ying and yang concept.

Of course, actual fight will depend on 1) weight class 2) level of martial art training, 3) body conditioning, movement and speed.

I get your point, just wanted to clear up some misconceptions.

You are an example of smart Indians mostly left India. India itself would not fulfill the potential of someone like you. It never will the way it's going.

Indians don't eat rice?

Punjabi, MP & some other northern planes are wheat basket of India.

Arable land doesn't mean its only feasible to grow rice, even during this season here In nearby Haryana i hardly see a farm land growing rice, they grow many other high cash return things lintels, etc.

We north Indian eat rice hardly in a week.
