What's new

India's annual electricity generation crosses one trillion units in 2014-15!

damn...... Pak is yet to cross 100 billion. At least from what I know.

At least we can laugh at bngldsh

Electricity is the major source of power for most of the country's economic activities. Bangladesh's installed electric generation capacity was 10289 MW in January, 2014;[1] only three-fourth of which is considered to be ‘available’.

A single Indian power plant produces 1/2 their whole country.

Not the best place to make fun of Bangladesh. This thread is not about that. Keep your elite Lutyens attitude to yourself. @bongbang @Loki

Seem like Pakistan produced 96 billion units in 2012, so it most have crossed 100 billion by now. Ideally it should be 150 billion units to reduce load shedding considerably.

Pak-BD population is almost similar yet installed capacity in BD is less then half of Pakistan. Maybe demand is not there?

Modi made the sun, Modi made the moon, Modi is Krishna, Modi is kali mata, Modi invented the internet, Modi Modi Modi. Please, give it a rest, the guy has yet to prove himself.
I dont know why do you hate Modi so much but I do also believe in policy rather then personality.
And I am listening to our Mr. Prime Minister about using coal more efficiently to increase the production of electricity and it seems to be working.

I don't hate Modi, on the contrary I like him. I hate his followers who attribute everything to him. When their wife gets pregnant they probably attribute that to Modi too.

Increase in energy is because of MMS not Modi.

I am not discrediting MMS's efforts, but India has built lot of power plants no matter who was in power , the addition of capacity was fairly consistent. The problem was production to peak capacity, since most of our electricity is coal based.
This year the coal supply has increased thus the "additional" generation than last year.
Look at the original article itself:
The biggest contributor was generation from the coal based power stations which recorded an annual growth rate of 12.1%.

The generation capacity addition during 2014-15 was 22,566 MW against a target of 17,830 MW, which is the highest ever achievement in a single year, the release said.

The huge capacity addition coupled with higher generation and improved transmission capacity has resulted in considerably reducing the electricity energy shortage from a level of 7 to 11% during the last two decades to a record low of only 3.6% during the year 2014-15.

Yeah i do hate that too....such kind of blind following is pathetic we did the same with UPA 1 and followed the UPA 2.
But still what MMS did was that he focused more on building/finding more sources of energy to meet our industrial demand like they did with coal blocks by giving them for free. He should have also focused on improving the existing sources of energy
