What's new

Indians deploying SAMs closed to Pakistani Border??

In 2020 so far we have seen.
  • Increased Cooperation between Israelis and Gangadeshis to counter the PAFs Electronic Warfare Capability We saw last Feb.
  • Deployment of Brahmos Batteries close to IB and LOC.
  • Now These Baark 8 Deployments. They might be there to Keep PAF from Supporting a thrust by I Strike Corp into Jammu.
  • Last Year Injuns Deployed Su-30MKIs near Bahawalpur in Bikaner and Started hardening of Bunkers there.
  • Their recent belligerence at the LOC at this Stage.
If Injuns Indeed are planning something foolish it might not happen this year or the next but they indeed have some plans but this time i m afraid it wont be like the last time. They might want a full show. Modi might want to escalate due to plethora of issues haunting him from Economic Crisis, Post Covid-19 India, CAB/NCR to divert attention from his failures he could do anything. But I still dont consider him that stupid but one never knows.

Regarding this deployment it might create some problems for PAF but it wont change the Game. Pakistan has multiple options to take them out if need be.

Now regarding this 'deployment' so close to OurBorder is not just one thing but part of ManyThings @Signalian
This area is called working boundary, its around 190 km long. It starts where CFL ends in IOK/AJK and carries on to where IB starts near Narowal. India has BSF deployed on this working boundary opposite Sialkot, Pakistan has Rangers deployed here. There are instances of firing and shelling across this working boundary. This comes in the news also.

Whenever, the world is busy elsewhere, India starts these deployments or increase firing against Pakistan. This is expected from India under COVID-19 situation so it shouldn't come as a surprise. Jammu Cantt is few Kms towards North west from this zone and a main road passes through here which then enters Pakistan and goes to meet Sialkot. There was news of Indian T-90 MBTs and BMP-2 IFVs to be deployed near Jammu. There was a tweet in last week of March of spotting of T-90 near Jammu (maybe same zone) . That should have raised concern too. The area gets armored warfare friendly inside Pakistan, North and North east of Sialkot.

If Indian SAM system is being deployed in this zone, whether short or medium range, then it could part of the IADS or a radar site to monitor and provide deterrent to airspace on working boundary. A MR SAM requires Radar guidance. A SR SAM would also unless its IR/Laser guided. There is already an extensive fortified laser smart fencing project being undertaken with help from Israel to secure the ground to curb infiltration from Pakistan (realistically non-existent).

These Artillery guns don't seem to be deployed operationally in firing position. Maybe dug-outs and ammunition boxes around them will appear soon along with camouflaging nets.
@Inception-06 In post#5, that battery of 6 x guns don't seem 105mm, they seem bigger caliber or am i wrong?

Medium Artillery 130mm M-46 Field Gun, the Indian Army has a stock of around 800 such M-46 field guns acquired from the former USSR beginning in 1968.

Is that the big counter?lol It's a representative image not the actual. Regardless, anyone with a brain would know Radars/SAMs will not be deployed on rooftops of a building out in the open, waiting to be targeted by simple artillery fire. If OSINT guys with google earth image can figure out Radars/SAM, then the military with higher resolution sats can see them. Don't tell me we forgot to camouflage it.

The blue isosceles triangle indicates the area where india is vulnerable, The only way a heavy offensive from PA can cut india from it’s occupied tip.

The red circle indicates the possible range of this SAM system.

Positioning reasons :

  • To avoid any Medium/Small range SAM attack by PA anywhere in the triangle especially wherever indian Military installations are.
  • Counter Babur/RAAD
  • Most importantly, To provide cover to IA and IA Aviation and form an offensive against PA artillery and advancing units and helis.
  • Don’t know what system it is but least of the concern and possibility (can’t come to a conclusion due to not knowing the system type so take this point as a what-if only), Against PAF F-16s which are patrolling the area most probably.

However, Taking this Indian installation down for PA isn’t much of a headache I presume. Only option is RAAD

Why hit targets under 50km from WB or IB with RAAD?? That's stupidity, Artillery with PGM can take care of it, also PA have many options available to tackle that threat.

Use the land based KORAL EW systems coupled with the link based BVR missile guidance while the fighter radar is OFF...

Insha'Allah PAF would be able to make a good quality Kebap out of them...

Not needed PAF already have 100km range ARMs to tackle enemy radars.

That was a rough guess, I didn’t open up the map with the scales and all, So my apologies..

One of the most credible guys when it comes to imagery.

The first time I saw this pic it was clear its not SAMs just from the distance between each object. No one in their right mind would put so many SAMs so close to each other.
