Hardly.... him alone. All leaders of that generation were masters in their command of the English language; whether Gandhi, Bose, Ambedkar, Tilak, Azad, Sarojini Naidu or anyone else. Read G.K.Gokhale's writings in English for instance or the Patel brothers. They laid the foundations of learning English in India. Till lunatics like Lalloo, Mulayam and Mayawati happened. Do people here even know how BHU got emptied of its best faculty when the "Hindi-isation" campaign was launched?
BTW, Harivanshrai Bacchan was a Professor in English at Allahabad Univ.
Luckily for himself, he had retired before the lunatics took over.
