Indian tiger captured in Sialkot

SIALKOT: Punjab Wildlife and Parks Department officials with the help of locals captured a tiger on Saturday believed to have bitten two people and several cattle on Saturday along the Sialkot working boundary in the Kot Maana locality.
Local residents said the big cat came from Indian side early on Saturday and started biting cattle there.
Khalid and Iqbal Husain, who were grazing a cattle herd in the fields, were also bitten by the tiger.
Announcements were made through mosques’ public address systems asking the people to run for shelter. A police contingent arrived in the area followed by wildlife officials.
Several residents also joined the wildlife team to locate the big cat which they did after hours of searching of fields. Later, they captured it through a tranquilizer gun. The tiger was put in a cage and transported to Lahore.
A few days ago, villagers had captured a crocodile, weighing 500 pounds, from the nullah Palkhu and handed it to the wildlife officials. The giant reptile was also transported to Lahore’s Jallo Park.
In January, wildlife officials from Lahore captured an Indian leopard from Pasrur bordering villages. That cat might be languishing in some Lahore cage.
