The oldest scriptures - the vedas (esp rigveda) mentions and pays tribute to Sun, Wind, Dusk & Dawn, water - terming them as gods, for these "elements" give and nurture life (pretty much scientific fact), and questions the very foundation of the concept of a supreme omnipresent & omnipotent being (please read nasadiya sukta). My friend, if you have never encountered extra-ordinary situations, you can not know what it is to have belief. I have been blessed and my belief in God is unshakable. True belief lies beyond logic and only the lucky get to know that.

My reference to logic was in opposition to disrespect. It is illogical to disrespect other people's religions because they do the same to you. This is standard Islamic position as taught by our Prophet. He commanded Muslims not to disrespect deities and gods of other people so that they may not dis-respect Allah, the monotheistic God.

Of course atheists are free from issues of respect or disrespect, because they have no belief in a higher being. For them using curse words like "shit" are OK to describe religion. I have often come across atheists who describe religion as the greatest curse, without realizing how much people have been killed in the name of Nationalism. I see that your education (whatever it is) has done little good, since you resort to arrogance & name-calling. You have an opinion, & so do most others. But the way you put it across shows how well-educated and wise you are. Atheism has no higher calling than to glorify base appetites.

Atheists like Hitler, Stalin, & Mao caused deaths of millions. Sufis, yogis, sages & monks spread peace. You do not know what greatness of human spirit means. You have never seen a person with a beautiful & connected soul.
