ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's sound strategy (??????) to ward off threats like a possible surgical strike by India had barred the "adversary" from opting for any "extreme option" in the wake of the Mumbai attacks, the air force chief said on Saturday.

Asked during a news briefing about India's reported plans of carrying out surgical strikes in the wake of the 2008 Mumbai incident, Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said the Pakistan Air Force had "immediately developed a strategy to counter the threat, which barred the adversary (from opting) for any extreme option".

"Our response time during such situations is from two to six minutes from the ground," he told the briefing held at the Air Headquarters here.

The "adversary did not dare to take any step" since it knew the capability of the PAF, he said.

The PAF is keeping a "watchful eye to safeguard the frontiers of the country" and effective systems are in place to cope with any situation, Suleman said.

Responding to another question, Suleman said the US-led coalition forces in Afghanistan "hardly commit any violation of Pakistan's airspace".

Thats suppose to be a mother of jokes I suppose ... how many terrorists and civilians have US drones killed in the past????

Pakistan has always strongly protested any airspace violation by the coalition forces, he added.

YES ,all you have done is ""strongly protested" , but they still occur , dont they??

On the other hand, Pakistan and India reached a mutual agreement in 1991 not to enter the airspace 10 km from the border to avoid any violations, he said.

There is no threat from Pakistan's western border while a sizeable number of aircraft are continuously guarding the eastern border, Suleman said.

Pak doesn't need a counter strategy really to stop Indian surgical strikes. IAF needed american approval to enter P0K and attack terror camps, even during war-time(Kargil). And they failed to get it.

So, Indian surgical strikes is newspaper stuff only to calm Indian audiences post 26/11.

It always in the interests of any sovereign country to be battle ready. However, coming after 1.5 years of 26/11 the credibility is lost as the dust has settled long back.

Thank You.

India will need atleast 50 more years to balance american military power, or a 1000 miracles to go past.

1 or 2 years away to take on America??? Have you ever seen a american air base or a cantonment where they store their tanks or a B-52 bomber from a close proximity???
And by the way how many % of Indians are ready to go to war at the time of necessity and how many are trained to do so in comparisn to America?
