The Supreme Court on Wednesday, March 30, refused to entertain a plea against the use of Padmavathi Nilayam, a multi-storey building which was constructed for devotees of Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD), for setting up the collectorate of the newly created Sri Balaji district. A bench of Justices DY Chandrachud, Surya Kant and Bela M Trivedi said that the court has to keep the larger public interest in mind. Moreover, it said, the appeal has been filed against an interlocutory order of the High Court.

The appeal was filed by BJP leader GP Reddy against the Andhra Pradesh High Court order vacating the stay on the use of the properties of Tirumala Tirupati. At the outset, senior advocate DS Naidu, appearing for Reddy, said the property in question should be used for the deity and the devotees, and not by the government.

It is a religious property which could not have been used by the administration. This property is for the public and the state cannot impinge upon someone else's property, Naidu said. The bench said the government has to make some arrangements when it creates a new district and sometimes exigent measures have to be taken keeping in mind the larger public interest.

I will say that this building should not be used for the collectorate not because I support the right of the devotees but because in case the collectorate is arranged there there might be remnants of the temple like architecture which will be unpleasant for those not the devotees of this god and those not interested in this show-sha business of yearly wasteful pilgrimages to this place. So the state administration should hand over the building to the temple but heavily tax this temple as should be done to every religious building in the state while at the same time abolishing income tax and all other taxes imposed on the individual and the family because such taxes on the person are an obsolete idea from the time of monarchy and feudalism.

Sanctity of religious places should be maintained. The State should not unilaterally occupy such premises. Tomorrow, the State may find it convenient to turn a mosque into a government office. The principle should stand equally for all. Larger Public interest can be served in other ways & by other means.

This is the unpleasant side of secularism, where religious feelings are secondary or even tertiary to the State's convenience.

I agree, But do note how.. this happens in a Hindu Majority India.

As a Hindu, I really feel proud of my Court. If something is Illegal.. it has to go.. Hindu temple or Mulsim Masjid... Law is/must be Equal.

Besides,

in How many cases, ( like the holocaust and jews ) have muslims faced something similar in India ? I refer to the REAL Genocide of Hindus in Kashmir. Where many Hindu women were raped. and children were murdered in ISIS style.
One Example , where 7,00,000 Muslims had to leave their homes just beacause they were Muslims ? Hindus have faced it.. in Independent India.

Show me One example where Hindu temples have uttered in Loudspeakers >.. Leave or Die.. . Leave..Convert or Die.
