LOL what a load of crap! Even the opening article clearly states that he was spying on the Indian commnity in Germany and not on Germany itself. And your phantasy that he couldn't be caught is nothing but hilarious, by the fact that he is a known criminal and that he has charges against him, for for illegal immigration into Germany, for falsifying of documents and smuggling of people, with the verdicts still pending. So he was known by the authorities anyway and not a 007 spy like you want to make him.

As I told you before, get a clue of what this issue is about, before you talk so much nonsense:

Any kind of spying in Germany is spying. Against Indian community or german community or naturalized german citizens from India. Which is why he was convicted in the first place.

Last time RAW used chota Rajan to try and eliminate Dawood and ISI used Dawood against India.

Your post itself calls Ranjit a Secret Agent. Real life agents do not look like or carry gagets like 007

Your own link says Ranjit was not coerced into being a agent. He was a willing agent for RAW.

007 is a fictional character, this is real life :disagree:

I really hope that we adopt Israel-like policy about getting back out people. If we'd like to convey our point, we could send covert forces into Germany and get him out.

I'd like to see them try to capture an Israeli and keep him in cell without Mossad blowing up half of Berlin to get their man, back.

It is competing with Uttar Pradesh to take the title of 'Somalia of India'.

Have you watched too many B-wood movies lately?

Such a stupid move is totally insane beyond every standard!

This man broke German law, period. And now he serves the sentence he got for committing a crime (Spying is as the article says, a crime there)
. Taking him out of a prison (In a NATO country, I would like to know how you want to pull that off  ) by covert forces is an act of aggression.

there is no bad guy / good guy in that community.. at lowest level you want to use which ever resource you can get hands on, some of them might be nasty character, but agree/capable to work for you.
And yes, he is not an intelligence officer attached to the consulate, so there will be little interest in govt fighting for him. I dont think there is any risk to indo german relationship here.

For the agencies there isn't of course and I can understand why they chose to use him as an informant, but that doesn't mean we as Indians needs to rise now with our pride, because he was arrested for things that were against the German law. For me he is a criminal in the first place and I don't see any need to shed a tear for such people, nor will the agencies do, they simply will go to the next informant. And no, as long as there is no actuall harm to Germany, there won't be any issue in the Indo-German relation ships and the court verdict even states that, that the ammount of spying he did was not that deep a problematic. But Indian agencies would be smart to not overstretch the nerves of the Germans, especially now when there is a general attention on spying of foreign agencies in Germany. Increased agency to agency relation on that matter might be more helpful, since German intel is considered to have a very wide net of informants, even abroad and that could be more useful for us, than spying on some some Indians in Germany, that hardly seems to

Which again shows that you have no clue of what you are talking, spying against normal people is against the law, but is no threat to the nation, therefore handled differently even within the law. Not to mention that there are other types of espionage like industrial espionage too. You simply shouldn't make up things for ludicrous reasons, when you obviously didn't understand the matter.

My reference was wrt to sikh extremism and Pakistani interference.

CIA like any other intelligence agency would be gathering intelligence and to influence policy makers to their interests. But how far they are able to influence its policy is the question you have to ask.
