Hes not the Indian naval chief he is a rear admiral and head of southern naval command(Indian Ocean)
 
He died in Accidental Firing :cry: Such a Senior Officer Died in Such Way..Very Sad indeed
 
Kochi/New Delhi, July 7 (IANS) A senior Indian Navy officer was killed in an accidental fire on board a warship, INS Dronacharya, here Wednesday, it was announced.

"Chief of Staff of the Southern Naval Command, Rear Admiral S.S. Jamwal, has died in an accidental fire," navy spokesman Commander P.V.S. Satish told IANS.

The navy has ordered a high-level inquiry into the death of the 51-year-old.

NEW DELHI: The third senior most officer of the Indian Navy was killed in an accidental firing during a training session at its southern Naval base in Kochi on Wednesday.

The Navy has ordered a Court of Inquiry (CoI) into the accidental death of Rear Admiral SS Jamwal, who was the Chief-of-Staff of the Southern Naval Command in Kochi.

As per reports, SS Jamwal was shot dead in an accidental firing when the officers of the Southern Naval command were being trained in the firing range of INS Dronacharya in Kochi.

The tragic incident has come as a major shock for the Naval forces and a CoI probe is likely to throw light on the sequence of events leading to the death of Rear Admiral Jamwal.

In a shocking incident, Rear Admiral S.S. Jamwal, Chief of Staff of the Southern Naval Command, was killed in accident gunfire at the Navy's missile and gunnery school INS Dronacharya at Fort Kochi, near here, on Wednesday.

The incident took place around 10.30 a.m. As per intitial reports, the Rear Admiral was at the small arms firing range of INS Dronacharya to oversee firing practice of trainees when he accidentally got hit. He died on the spot.

The Navy has constituted an internal Board of Inquiry to investigate the death of the Rear Admiral
