Indian, Singapore navy to exercise in South China Sea

Why not? We have great relations with the Chinese navy, and if india can exercise in the south china sea why can't Bangladesh and China in the Bay of Bengal?

A provocative move. It is the equivalent of a naval exercise between Bangladesh and China off the coast of Kolkata.

It isn't. Naval exercises boost co-ordination and understanding.

Can be helpful in critical times, like tsunamis.

China is also free to do naval exercise with anyone who is willing to do it with them. No one needs to be paranoid about these routine matters.

Seems like Singapore is pushing the defense relations to India more and more, apart from their relations in this regard to the US. A good move from both countries, especially in regard to the Straight of Malacca, but I always found it interesting, if the new P8I could be used from Indian and Singaporean forces to cover the seas around Singapore and the Straight of Malacca. Something like the joint NATO AWACS missions, that includes crews mixed up from different countries. Not only that both countries and forces would be even closer linked with each other in regard of common threats, but IN could extend their operational area by far and increase the deterrence against PLAN, when they can search vessels, or subs at such long range:

The new base air base at the Andaman Islands would be the perfect location for a P8I base in this regard, RSAF is capable of air refuelling the P8Is, or they could be refuelled, rearmed, in Singapore itself.
Combined with the Phalcon AWACS and UAVs of RSAF and the AWACS that IN will get soon as well, both countries could secure these sea lanes very effectively.

You have great relation with Japan as well, will you do that with them? And as you don't run the BD govt you will not understand why you can't do it with china. What BD navy has for exercise?
