Indian Sikhs defy advice to pray in Pakistan

@JAna

The sikhs were only advised not to go to Pakistan because of security concerns. I don't think you can really expect some "Khalistani" representative sitting in the US as credible source !

.
fair enough.

And fairer enough on the part of Pakistan to arrange their pilgrim as nice as it had been through all these years over the decades

I hope nobody deliberately targets them to dramatize the current disorder in PAK, if such a thing happens international media would further bash Pakistan.

yes this factor remains there. we are just praying for the safe ending of this event.

As we have already seen the terrorists have already succeeded in getting undue publicity by pressurising minorities in the tribal areas although the victims are mostly Muslims and there is no difference bewteen a minority or Muslims for these terrorists.

Hasanabadal is just about one and half hours drive from my City Peshawar

I hope you also choose not to befriend Pakistanis who raped and killed Bangladeshis. Afterall, you are doing this because you are judging people based on their acts from years ago right, not because they are Sikhs? And I hope your mom also told you that that it was not only the Sikhs who did the raping and killing. The muslims also did the same. I really don't understand why you are being told to hold grievances of more than 50 years ago?

Its sad, but it seems like you have been brought up in a culture of hate.

My grandmother experienced Muslim-Sikh killings in East Punjab in 1947. She talks about trains from Lahore coming in filled with dead bodies and women committing suicides to save their honour and vice versa. But should I start hating all Muslims aged above 65-70 for that? Did all Muslims/Sikhs participate in the killings? We surely cant be the judge of that.

And if you would study a bit of Sikh history you would know that they have suffered a lot under the Mughal kings and their local governors. 3 of the ten Sikh gurus were martyred by Muslim/Mughal rulers. Before Ranjit Singh, Sikhs were never able to payback what the Muhgals did to the Sikhs. But that doesn't mean that Sikhs should start hating all Muslims. Does it?

In this context let me introduce my background. My grand-father migrated from Jalandhar, village Singhan to Pakistan city Faisalabad, (Than known as Loyalpur). Our family at that time lost 6 members. 3 were children of less than 2 years of age, they were orphans and were my father's first cousins. They were piked. They took along a sister of my grand father. And yes the attackers were all Sikhs.

We still feel that pain, not me but my father and grand father, till his last breath. He called upon his sister at the death bed. I heard it from my grand father and my father, in a voice full of revenge and rage.

I agree to my friend that we can not forget what happened in '47 but my point is that for how long should we live in past. Its more than 62 years now. If they had not been killed in '47 they must have been dead by now their natural deaths though it was totally inhuman of those who attacked and killed them. Most refugess were from Punjab and they were attacked mostly by Sikhs and they brutaly killed Muslims who had nothing but their lives migrating to Pakistan.

This is where our religion escorts and helps us out. Self Control and courage to face the worst. We can not kill the Sikhs in our community or those of India on just this ground. Those who did so, must have been dead by now.

Prophet (P.B.U.H.) said that the punishment of a father's deed can not be given to his son and neither vice versa. This is the point. Leave this matter to God.

It can be just my thought correct or incorrect you may judge but for me I think it can be the only way to forget what happened in '47.

KIT Over

I agree to every part of your post. That had been the worst time for the immigrants. But you tell me should we always live and burn ourselves and others in the fire of revenge or should we find a way to make things better? You give a way out.

I think the fact that we have more than 30,000 Pakistani Sikhs currently living in different parts of Pakistan make them 'do a lot in Pakistan'. They are as much Pakistani as you, as are Pakistani Hindus, Christians, Parsis etc. Sikhs have their holiest places in this country, which is why close to 4000 Indian Sikhs do their annual pilgrimages in this country. I am proud to have Sikh people as a part of this country, and the Pakistani Sikhs are extremely patriotic Pakistanis, and would be ready to sacrifice themselves and lay down their lives to defend it.

.
It's a historical fact that Sikh has done more damaged to Muslim then Hindu. I see a lot of Bhaichara for Sikhs but why? :undecided:

.
I hope nobody deliberately targets them to dramatize the current disorder in PAK, if such a thing happens international media would further bash Pakistan.

Is there any more bash left that Pakistan should be ready to digest more. Pakistan is like a magnet when comes to international bashing target.
