This was NOT said by Messenger of Allah to Zayd rather this part of the verse is an address to the Messenger (PBUH) by Allah wherein Allah clearly tells the Prophet (PBUH) that he (Muhammad) was having this concern in his heart hidden one which was not hidden from Allah, that what will people (Arab society at that time) say about marriage of the Prophet (PBUH) with Zaynab when she was divorced by Zayed.

Hence Allah said to the Prophet that he the Prophet (PBUH) should fear Allah instead of being concerned what people will say.

Again these verses clarify and make those taboos in Arab society null and void.

yes dear the verse is from Sura Ahzab where Allah says

"Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but he is the Messenger of Allah and the last of the Prophets. And Allah is Ever All-Aware of everything." [Noble Quran 33:40]

Then there is further clarification on adopted sons

"Nor has he made your adopted sons your real sons. That is but your saying with your mouths. But Allah says the truth, and He guides to the (Right) Way. Call them (the adopted sons) by (the names of) their fathers, that is more just with Allah." [Noble Quran 33:4-5]


Now as far this entire episode of marriage of Zaynab earlier with Zayed and after divorce, with the Prophet (PBUH), the entire process was commanded by Allah.

When she was not willing to marry Zayed even then Allah revealed verses to the Messenger of Allah which were for abolishing any cast and creed preference.

And ohh the Messenger did not want to marry her as a desire rather the Messenger himself got her married to Zayed and he married her later when she was divorced by Zayed

Dear marriage in Islam is a contract executed between two willing mature adults, it cannot be forced upon anyone by anyone, its against Islam's basic idea of freedom that it affords its believers ....... if that was the case then Zayd wouldn't dare rejecting Messenger's advice, it should have been binding for him .......... so Zainab an independent adult couldn't be forced into a marriage with Zayd without her will...... the verse you are referring to hints at newly formed state's laws for the society ....... and not directions specifically given to Zainab to Marry Zayd.

anyway, you know people used urine (not of just cow) as an antiseptic... it was a tribe who had some skin infection... so Holy prophet told them to use it on skins (and may take bath later etc) ... anyway, they went to govt animal reserve, used the urine and killed the guardian to take camel as well... in response their hands were cut...
but you can see it is mentioned in post that Hadith is weak....
