The wife and mother of martyred Lance Naik Hemraj Singh, who was brutally killed by Pakistani troops and his body mutilated, on Saturday demanded that the remains of the decapitated body be handed to them so that they can perform some rituals.
The family had earlier also demanded the same to Uttar Pradesh Minister Durga Prasad Yadav.

Shocked over the incident, both Hemraj’s mother Meena Devi and his wife Dharmavati have refused to eat for the last few days. Meanwhile, they have called off their fast after some assurances by Uttar Pradesh Government.

29-year-old Hemraj hailed from Shernagar village in Mathura district in Uttar Pradesh.

On January 8, the two soldiers — Lance Naik Hemraj and Lance Naik Sudhakar Singh — were killed near the LoC by Pakistani troops. The jawans belonged to 13 Rajputana Rifles

Sidhi: The mortal remains of Lance Naik Sudhakar Singh Baghel, who was one of the soldiers killed in an attack by Pakistan army across the LoC, were Thursday consigned to flames at his village Darhia near here with full military honours.

The funeral pyre was lit by Satyendra Singh, Sudhakar's elder brother. At least 10,000 persons from nearby villages were present to bid farewell to the martyr.

Those present on the occasion included Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Leader of Opposition in State assembly, Ajay Singh and Minister in-charge of Sidhi district Nagendra Singh.

Sudhakar's body reached Darhia this morning by road in an Army vehicle from Jabalpur.

The Chief Minister after cremation, announced an ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakh to the kin of the soldier.

about what he has to bring for our children Nirmal, Prince and Shivani,”
said Ms. Dharmvati. Among the final memories she has of her husband was when Hemraj
called her four days before he was killed. Jai Singh, the martyr’s brother, who is also on a hunger strike, also
sounded a note of doubt. “What was brought to us was a body
covered in white sheet. Now it could be anyone’s body. We were not
allowed to see what was inside,” he said, highlighting that he has
spent his childhood with Hemraj and knew that he had a mole on the
back. “I would have checked it but they didn’t allow me to do that,” he
added.
