Horrible. Even if he was some pickpocket or trouble maker he could have easily been restrained. This just shows the police are a frustrated lot looking for an opportunity to beat up the weak. I doubt this cop will ever assault a well built criminal harassing a woman on the street.

Humans are a funny lot, life gives problems that we cannot control and we lash out because that's within our control. This I would presume is especially exacerbated in India with poverty, corruption, a poor education system from kindergarten to university, financial burdens caused by having little poop machines running around because birth control is either a luxury or unheard of or frowned upon.

If India decides to bring their education system out of the dark ages,subsidize family planning education and contraceptives, enforce a maximum 2 child policy for some time and most importantly ot all.... outsource governance to an efficient country like Switzerland(just kidding, maybe not, the lives and attutudes of the politicians are in the hands of Indians if they choosse to en masse), India may, just may avoid being the sick man of Asia.

Agree. In all my years, I have yet to meet an Indian sanghi who can stand-up to anyone, even a fiesty girl.

It's one thing I ask my Pakistani friends in the UK if they have the same experience. Not one has told me of a sanghi who could stand-up for himself. All are class 1 chickens.

If you see the communal violence in India you always see a common factor that is, attacking as a gangs and with police protection.

Very sad to see the treatment of an elderly person facing police brutality. Even if he is a criminal, he does not deserve such treatment.

Usually, the police in every country are trained and act in the same manner maybe there could be some exceptions but I have no knowledge.

Are degrees and higher grades more related to human attitude and behavior?
If this is the case, what about those who are on killing sprees on daily basis in the USA? Could you share their academics with us?
By logic, countries with the highest literacy rate should have zero or the lowest crime rates, but that seems not the case.

We also have muslims beaten by muslims or hindus or vice versa. Sikhs, Christians also take turns at times. Nothing is binary like you suggest.

1. Based on the Uniform that guy is NOT the State police. He probably is be RPF (Railway Protection Force).

2. Based on the public response, the victim is probably a criminal caught in the act by the public who handed him over the top RPF. For e.g. He could have been molesting a child or a girl inside the coach.

3. The action by this 'police' is of course unacceptable, but considering the state of the Judiciary (continuing its colonial legacy) it is probably the only way he can enforce the law and order. THIS is the ONLY deterrence available to make the criminals think twice.

4. Though such public thrashing reduced the public confidence in the govt. security agencies. The usual tendency is the empathize with the supposed Victim. Though what we see is usually not the complete truth.

5. In any case that law officer will either lose his job or get suspended with serious remarks in his files.

Not read such unadulterated garbage in a long time.
