You're not factoring other variables in the reduced probaility equation; that India lost at least USD 300 mil in equipment, airmen and ground troops, plus pride for their election publicity stunt.

Keeping him would put Pakistan in undue international pressure. That would give away more of what we gained in the past few days. Losing 10% gains momentarily is better than losing 100% gains in the long run.

How many shots did we take? 3.5 mil for a single AMRAAM; and I doubt we spent more than 4; so USD12 mil. Thats cheap for what we got in return.
