Indian Parliament (Fair vs Dark Skin) Great Debate

.
Sad but true but its so deeply ingrained.Ican still remember in punjab my grandmother went to see a new born baby. When she came back my mum asked her what the baby looked like her reply was the babys got lovely features but sadly god gave him a dark complexion.

babies are angels ... no matter what is their skin color ....
but yes i know its harsh truth of our Society..

Perhaps due to colonisation people are uncomfortable with their skin colour, media is also to blame. Have you ever watched Bollywood movies? Most of their hero or heroes are usually light skinned.

Never really took time to observe that, buddy. In my university, there's a club for students as "Desi American Cultural Association", some of my students are members of that. This past Winter, i was really taken by the Bharatanatyam performance, the dancer was , i think a South Indian. Beautiful !

I would say she had a darker complexion than the Punjabi dancers, however, she was absolutely stunning, beautiful. :)

So @Jaanbaz and @Nihonjin1051 I was thinking that if I called someone dark skinned as Brown in a disparaging manner that'll be racist but if I were to, hypothetically, call a fair skinned person that he looks like a baboon's butt especially when sun burnt would that be construed as being racist too ?

There has been a behaviourial genetic study done in 2010/11 why people prefer skin colour and accents that are different from their immediate cultures. It is simply because of different genetic preference to create a more diverse gene pool. It's human nature to be more attracted to a physical characteristic like skin colour that is different to the one they have. It's nothing more and nothing less that humans subconsciously seeking to diversify their gene pools. The study was very impressive and relied heavily on scientific proofs. I'll see if I can dig it up again.

Yeah. Racism goes both ways. I know you are a victim of reverse racism.
