Indian-origin commander of Nuke powered US aircraft carrier dies

Washington, Nov 10 (PTI) India-born Captain Tushar Tembe, Commanding officer of the American nuclear powered aircraft carrier USS Harry S Truman, has suddenly died, the US Navy announced today.

49-year-old Tembe, a naval aviator, had assumed command of Truman only three months ago. Mumbai-born Tembe came to the US as a child and later graduated from Texas Tech University.

In a statement, the US Navy said, the ship''s medical response team provided immediate medical assistance until Tembe could be transported to Bons Secours Maryview Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.

The cause of death has not been determined, it said.

"We offer our sincere condolences to Capt. Tembe''s wife and children, his family and the Truman crew. They are in our thoughts and our prayers as we deal with this tragic loss.

Capt. Tembe served the Navy and our nation honorably and with great distinction. We honor his outstanding contributions to our nation," said Rear Adm Ted Branch, commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic.

Tembe is survived by his wife and two sons. Planning for a memorial service and funeral arrangements is ongoing.

The ship''s executive officer, Capt. Craig Clapperton, has temporarily assumed command.

Capt. Clapperton described Tembe as an exceptionally strong leader and motivator who went to great lengths to connect with his sailors and understand their challenges.

"He earned their trust and their confidence," Clapperton was quoted as saying by Virginian Pilot newspaper.

Many on the ship regard Tembe as the best commanding officer they''ve ever had, he added.

Clapperton said the cause of Tembe''s death still has not been determined, and that he had no known medical problems.

Hmm.. this seems to be very suspicious, that too on an US nuclear aircarft carrier. Looks like the Gora's don't want a brown skin to be in control of one of their most prized assets..

If they didnt want him on the aircraft carrier they could have easily send him tocommand other vessels. I have a hunch that Captain Tembe died of heart attack

Truman CO dies after collapsing - Navy News | News from Afghanistan & Iraq - Navy Times

The Navy has confirmed the death of the aircraft carrier Harry S. Truman’s skipper.

Capt. Tushar R. Tembe died suddenly at a Portsmouth, Va., hospital Tuesday morning after collapsing as he was leaving the ship, moored at Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Portsmouth.

Tembe, 49, was debarking at roughly 10 a.m. when he fell, according to Naval Air Force Atlantic. The carrier’s medical team provided immediate medical assistance. Tembe was then transported to Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth, where he was pronounced dead, AIRLANT said.

Tembe, a native of Bombay, India, came to the U.S. as a child and graduated from Texas Tech University. After earning his wings, he flew a variety of aircraft, including the F/A-18 Hornet. His commands included Strike Fighter Squadron 87 at Naval Air Station Oceana, Va., and the amphibious transport dock ship Nashville.

Dont you have any work apart from spreading rumour mills?....Why to blame some country without any reason?

I doubt there was foul play involved, sudden death.. heart attack? some critical organ failed?
Possibly the pressures and the pride that come with such a milestone in a career got to him. He may not have been showing it, but maybe subconsciously it was bothering him.
US forces are rarely biased as long as you show utmost loyalty to your nation, the only bias you may hear would be from the non-commissioned types.. that too is VERY rare..even after 9/11.
