But INS Kochi has already gone for trial.Seems most likely to me.
There is 1 Kolkata out with 76mm, the next 2 may get the 127mm without there being a new class of 2 ships.
But think of the logistics : the Oto 127mm and 76mm, 2 types of Russian 100mm cannon, 2 type of russian 76mm cannon, russian 57mm cannon .....
Navy's Guns Sink with Tender -The New Indian ExpressUnder the programme, India would buy two guns directly from the winner of the tender, while 11 more guns would be manufactured by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) through transfer of technology from the global Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) that wins the contract
Key Points
India's Ministry of Defence (MoD) recently approved the INR15 billion (USD243.5 million) procurement of 13 127 mm guns for Indian Navy (IN) warships, for which Italy's OTO Melara was the sole bidder.
- OTO Melara's 127/64 LW - Vulcano gun system has been chosen to arm 13 Shivalik-class frigates and Delhi-class destroyers
- OTO Melara was the sole bidder for the requirement after BAE Systems decided not to go for the contest
India has selected OTO Melara's 127/64 LW - Vulcano gun system for 13 indigenously designed and built Shivalik-class frigates and Delhi-class destroyers. (OTO Melara)
IN sources told IHS Jane's that OTO Melara has offered its 127/64 LW - Vulcano gun system for 13 indigenously designed and built Shivalik-class frigates and Delhi-class destroyers.

The numbers are very confusing bro but the Delhi class has got to be a mistake.I don't understand, we have 3 Shivaliks and 3 Delhi class ships. Where did the number 13 came from?

There will be no more P-17 Shivlaik class frigates (sadly), there will be 7 P-17A frigates of a yet-to-be-named class.For minute I thought they are building more Shivaliks, but that won't be the case isn't it?

Indeed they are FAR more capable than the Talwars, should have at least ordered 10, the Shivlaiks are a fine class and whilst the P-17As will be based on the P-17 design the design is different enough to have delayed construction for 3-4 years. The issue with Indian shipyards (and what halted more P-17s from being made) has long been capacity, this is will be addressed in the coming years. This piecemeal ordering by the IN 3 here, 4 there needs to stop.I've always wondered why did we stop at 3 Shivaliks, why not build more, like the Chinese?
From my Point 4 Banglore Class DDG (Project-15B) + 7 Shivalik Class FFG + 2 for IAC-1I don't understand, we have 3 Shivaliks and 3 Delhi class ships. Where did the number 13 came from?
No, I think last three are dedicated for three more future frigates to be built yet. And news is pretty clear it's Delhi class destroyers and Shivalik class frigates, so no mention of follow on Delhi class. Three destroyers and ten frigates. Plus same arrangement for towed sonar also. It is somewhat related if what I am thinking is correct. It's my opinion only(can say rumors also) but I feel confident.Very encouraging news, a lot of people had been negative about the P-15A having only a 76mm main gun instead of a 127 mm/130 mm main gun.
I'm sure these are for the 3 P-15B Bengaluru class (not the Delhi class as has mentioned in the article ) and 7 P-17A frigates but I'm not quite sure how the numbers work (7+3=10) considering the article say the order is for 13. Maybe these guns will be fitted onto the P-15A Kolkata class destroyers during their next refit?
@Penguin
partially imported and rest manufactured inhouse.Are these guns going to be manufactured in India
In my opinion it's only for three P15 boats and 10 frigates(last three coming on horizon). It looks like towed arrey sonar development like. It was in same way reported that Kolkata class will get towed array sonar with corvette in line but what is being reported now that Kolkata class boat is already equipped with towed array sonar. Every deal for Kolkata class may be separate from other boats as its requirement is bigger compared to smaller boats fully packed while it has upgradation space available in plenty. Thank you.3 Shivalik + 7 17A + 3 Kolkata .
or 7 17A + 2 Kolkata + 4 P15B
There are 4 P-15Bs on order. Delhi class seems to be a mistake, though, it is a possibility since the IN has wanted to upgrade its naval guns for quite sometime now.
No GOI hasn't abandoned its rule, onle implementation will be done carefully. Like Finnemechanica was found in corruption so it will be blacklisted and future trading with it will stop, but its subsidiaries will have chance to participate in open trade practices. Also if there is only qualified or entered competitor in defence deals, so government will judge if equipment in question is necessary for national security in urgent then only it will sign the deal on one by one case basis. No blank cheque like where we allow one deal to clear then other can also claim same. But ultimately control of clearance will lie in hands of GOI and it will decide on case by case basis. Thank you.Of course, my mistake
That makes the numbers even more curious. We can guarantee the under construction P-15Bs (4 units) will get them and the P-17A (7 units) making a total of 11, so that leaves only 2 and there is no class of only 2. I feel like the numbers are wrong, perhaps 13 is simply the initial order. It seems like it would be common sense to fit these onto the P-15As once they undergo their SLEP.
Anyone else notice this? This means deals were a sole bidder exists will now progress as a opposed to the past where they would end up stalled indefinitely, encouraging news!
That's the 76mm bro, the one in question (127/64 LW) is this one:
What a beast!
Indeed, which is again very positive because it means the MoD has abandoned it's nonsensical blacklisting policy and that a countless number of Indian defence deals aren't going to be detrimentally effected by other dramas.
@sancho
IN is going to standardize 127 mm guns for all main naval combatants slowly-2. For now one mainline destroyers and frigates are taken care of, second will be rest of destroyers and Russian frigates. Rest of frigates and corvettes will get different standard gun already in service.Seems most likely to me.

Wrong, we will buy three and rest ten will be manufactured in India mate.
Three Delhi class p15s and three p17 & p17a(4) and three more frigates in pipeline or will be installed on p15a and those 76mm guns from p15a will be moved to other smaller boats as government is standardizing the main two gun systems. One being 127 mm and second 76srgm.I don't understand, we have 3 Shivaliks and 3 Delhi class ships. Where did the number 13 came from?
For now Talwar class is in line for major gun upgrade but Kolkata class is scheduled to get 127 mm guns in short time during first major refit.What about Kolkata class and Talwar Class?
No Delhi class was scheduled to get midlife upgrade around this time only. Last three guns are surely either for Kolkata class or next gen three frigates.The numbers are very confusing bro but the Delhi class has got to be a mistake.
Exactly that I am trying to say as Indian government is favoring to go for more three shivalik follow on upgrade rather than three upgraded krivek class boats from russia.For minute I thought they are building more Shivaliks, but that won't be the case isn't it?
If you check then there are three p17 and four p17a. If government goes for indian boat then we will surely build additional three shivalik follow on boats instead of going for three krivek follow on boats.There will be no more P-17 Shivlaik class frigates (sadly), there will be 7 P-17A frigates of a yet-to-be-named class.
We are building more shivaliks(4 more confirmed upgraded follow on while for three more frigates discussion is going on.I've always wondered why did we stop at 3 Shivaliks, why not build more, like the Chinese?
That's a new angle if we add carrier as well. Will be wonderful.From my Point 4 Banglore Class DDG (Project-15B) + 7 Shivalik Class FFG + 2 for IAC-1
Finmechanica is still under lens but subsidiaries are not.It's a FINMECCANICA company! Does that ring a bell?
