Indian Navy offered Maritime version of Global Hawk

.
Ya, but It's expensive. How long it will take for Rustom-H to be operational ?

These days nothing is out of India's reach and this machine is in a league of its own in terms of capabilities and Rustom-H is a while off (design, manufacture, testing will all take time). If you want the best, be willing to pay for it. And IN knows it.

+ I hear IN are also very interested in FireScout and F-35C.

.
IN gonna buy this for sure. After this our own Rustom-H will come.

RUSTOM will take some time to mature.. I have a feeling that if UAV ( at least tactical ) section is opened to Private sector, they would do tremendous job at this..We are over loading HAL...

Firescout was almost final until HAL came with a proposal to convert Chetaks into UAV with the help of IMI..
Interest is still there..A deal might be signed with LPDs ...

I heard the latest was the Chetak UAV program was cancelled because it was not worth it given difficulties in doing such a thing and that perhaps they would look at Dhruv to convert as UAV but as of now it's all up in the air. So FireScout is really the only option for IN in the immediate future.

Private sector participation is important specially Mahindra, TATA and L&T etc with some more medium and small companies will do fine. But before they can go by their own for big project, they should cooperate with DRDO.

I hope HAL goes for a dedicated helicopter UAV like FS based on LUH. It should be stealth design.

Tbh given time constraints I'm certain IN won't wait around for Rustom-H and are certain to procure the GH and I'm also quite sure they'll go for the FireScout soon (again time constraints). As we know the IN are pretty intelligent in making such decisions and they aren't like IA/IAF who will wait decades for a idigenous solution but will buy the best they can afford for their needs.

I thing it is exactly opposite. IA/IAF are always one step forward to buy foreign system over Indian one even if they are ready like Arjun while IN is opposite. They have stick to Indian ship building and now India building stealth ships and aircraft carriers. IA/IAF do not bother delay in foreign system delivery and their faulty equipments but cannot wait for a day and will change requirements at the last moment even after trial to delay the project.

You make a very valid observation indeed and by the looks of it,India seems to be following the same path like you prescribed. We are showing no hurry in forcing the US-India ties to mature whereas Washington want it to progress like a relationship on steroids.I have lost count of the number of American overtures that New Delhi has shot down without even considering it.In my opinion,India seems to be going a little overboard by not conceding anything at all to the Americans. That could only be explained by a sober realization on India's part of the follies of a whirlwind romance with the west such as what Musharraf attempted.

i absolutely agree with u but i want to go the extent by saying that whirlwind romance was from all the successive govts including musharraf . since creation of pakistan , pakistan has agreed to do anything for US in the hope that it would be benefitted. if US asked them to sit it used to sit and if it asked them to stand it used to do that. all were successive spineless govts. india at least knows how to reciprocate to types of overtures and to also knows how to give cold shoulder to those which doesn't favour india. so my dear pakistani friends your way of tackling US itself was kind of faulty. and today u all cribb and advise us to stay away , mark my words we will take every thing from US whtever we want and US will give us and still there would be no arm twisting from US side , this is called diplomacy . and yeah indIA knows how to maintain its gravity , dignity as well as importance in world arena .he he he he:cheers:

Yes..But aviation arm of Navy is always foreign made and will remain so in foreseeable future..IN has started to flex its muscle and is demanding its worth in the budget..In the next few years many big ticket items are to be procured..Lets hope this BMS also sneaks in..Will be great addition to P-8I...
