Eying China, India Plans New East Coast Navy Bases​

NEW DELHI - India's plans to build naval infrastructure on the east coast is a sign of the extra emphasis the country is placing on its defenses against China, analysts here say.

Defence Minister A.K. Antony told the parliament Dec. 8 that the government has approved building two new naval installations on the east coast.

"The Government has accorded in principle approval to setting up of certain naval infrastructure at two places on the East Coast," according to the Defence Ministry's official statement. "Coastal security is the top priority of the Government, and a number of measures are being taken separately."

The locations of the new facilities have not been announced. The Indian Navy has bases at Vishakapatnma, Karwar, Mumbai and Kochi.

Sources in the Navy said the two installations could house future submarines.

The Indian Navy is developing a submarine operating base at its new base at Karwar along with the current submarine base at Vishakapatnam.

The service is also developing the second phase of the Karwar base on the western seaboard, which will eventually be the biggest such base this side of the Suez, an Indian Navy official said.

We are too open in many matters...India needs to learn how to play poker. Never reveal your cards, learn from your neighbors. Every time we give info out, it allows our enemies to build counter measures Wake up India. China doesn't have to spy on us, they get info from the bloody news. i agree but it may be IN does not want to hide it. India knows how to play poker.dont forget how secretly we build our first nuclear bomb and world came to know about it only after it was tested.

Since this is a secret base, you will soon be getting not only the images, but exact location coordinates, detailed maps and every other detail of it. Ofcourse, details other than the money involved.

the sources who leaked the news was in fact from the navy itself

all that they wanted is to give an alarm to some others about india's secret nuclear submarine base

Yes, I know few months back site inspection has been done. Which is been covered by local media also.

Site is near rambilli where sarada river joins bay of bengal.
It is secured because it is surrounded by mountains.

In vizag this news is very old and known to many people here.

It doesnt matter where the base is, coz most of the time they will be in sea and nobody will know where the sub is.....the bases are merely for maintainance. You wont even know when these ships are ducked.
