Admiral has already said-People need to differentiate between STOBAR and CATOBAR fighters. STOBAR fighters- MIG-29K,N-LCA,SU-33 etc CAN NOT be operated off CATOBAR carriers without massive modifications and CATOBAR fighters-Rafale-M,F-35C,F/A-18E/F CAN NOT operted off STOBAR carriers. As such we have to differentiate between the carriers the IN will get (INS Vikramditya and IAC-1) AND THE CATOBAR (IAC-2-) as such there will most likely be no crossover in fixed wing air groups right down to AWACS which are likely to be E-2Ds.
+EMALS is a serious likelihood for IAC-2-
In April 2011, Admiral Nirmal Kumar Verma stated that construction of the second indigenous carrier was some years away as there were a number of higher spending priorities for the navy. The design of the second carrier features significant changes which would increase displacement to over 65,000 tons and utilise steam catapults. In 2010, Admiral Verma had stated "It will be much bigger and capable of operating fighters, AEW (airborne early-warning) aircraft, tankers etc,".
