Specialists from the Indian Navy have expressed satisfaction with the work conducted by employees of the Sevmash yard on the INS Vikramaditya over the last 8 months, b-port.com reported. The ship is currently undergoing trials in the White Sea, which are being monitored by Rear Admiral Hari Kumar, who is the Chairman of Indian Delivery Acceptance Team for the Aircraft Carrier.

Speaking at a conference on the progress of the aircraft carrier, the rear admiral spoke highly of Sevmash’s efforts to complete a large amount of work on the project over the last eight months and noted how well the Indian and Russian specialists are working together, according to the website.

Before the aircraft carrier set out for the sea trials, the VIP suites of the captain and the flag officer were refurbished.

Finally!!

The Russians might be sighing of relief that our men in white are happy.

So the carrier joins us definitely by the end of this year.

Even after such radical cost escalations, INS Vikramaditya is a 75% brand new carrier with new linings, advanced air defence systems, new deck etc.

I'd say $2.9 billion is still reasonable considering that something similar from UK, France or USA would cost easily $4 billion at the very least.

its not the money but the time wasted is the main concern..now,for cost escalation,I only blame their stupidity..they didn't properly checked the ship before making the deal..but when they understand what enormous modification it would be,they escalated the cost..they should beware the fact that they destroyed their reputation due to the cost escalation and the delay..hope we will see this AC fully operational within next year april..

INS Vikramaditya is totally worth it ! who will give us Aircraft carrier in 2.9 billion dollars ?
Sometimes our media can hound issues like nothing . ( Price we pay for democracy and freedom of speech ! ) But it works in other ways ...media generated enormous pressure !!! that's why we are getting Vicky this year ....

But at one point Our relations with Russia had reached breaking point with all the bickering ...
We can never get friend like Russia ...we need to preserve this special relationship we share with Russia.
Good to see pics of Interior of Vicky .

Modern aircraft carriers cost around 4-5 billion.Even vikrant will cost much more than vikramaditya at 2.3 billion.
To wish that we could have cost this brand new carrier for 800 million, which is mostly little more than a talwar class frigate is wishful thinking. Its nowhere near the ripoff everyone thinks it is.

The new ford class carrier costs 14 billion dollars including research and design.
The new elizabeth class will cost 5.5 billion dollars each as projected.
Even vikrant may cost around 4 billion dollars.

we should construct a AC of 100,000T having Nuclear propulsion with the help of russia.

Thanks for the figures ...some of our guys need to take note of this.

Money apart...the help that Russia extended to us in our difficult days can't be measured in terms of money .

We need to strike right balance between all our needs carefully .

Megalomania may be sign of opulence for developed countries ...but we are still a developing country.

Even developed countries like UK are switching back from nuclear propulsion to conventional Aircraft carriers....

Everything tagged with nuclear is not always good ...

Problem is that INS Vikramaditya will only serve for 30 yrs at most ie
Ship would be retired at Max by 2044
and Indian Navy would begin looking for a replacement by yr 2037

While INS Vikrant which will cost us Rs 20000 Cr or 3.5 Billion USD will serve till yr 2065 atleast

At least, not at most. That's what the naval chief said recently.
