Indian Modi cancels Registration of world's largest Environment organization - Greepeace !

Too many NGOs in India...one for every 600 Indians.... let them die..they are anyways a burden on society...Seek money in the name of donation....then use that money to put fuel in an expensive Luxury car ....and go to expensive hotels to attend events that have nothing to do with Indians.

Sounds like you're speaking of Sri Lanka as well.

Atleast have some shame , man up and let others do their job, crushing dissent is no democracy.Greenpeace in the past 5 years alone have done more good for us and our future generations than what your knikeraatti gang has been doing for several decades.

Will chai wala also ban foreign funding of his controllers ?(@jamahir)
An unnoticed fact: the RSS, India’s biggest NGO, gets foreign funding too

India is no democratic as much as green peace is Indian.

what limits, razia??

Green Peace is not an Indian organization. They were receiving foreign money and hence they should not faulter on that count.
They over stepped when they climbed the ESSAR office and cover it with anti-essar slogans. acc. to me this was too much for a foreign agency to be doing against an indian company. may be they played in the hands of the anti - essar business lobby in UK or perhaps Reliance used them.
Their way of protests against several projects have been over bearing. they could take legal recourse instead of resorting to protests by involving public.
NGOs are used by intelligence agencies in their agendas and operations. CIA collects a lot of info thru US NGOs like ford foundation. So NGOs should guard and not allow themselves to be used by such agencies.
Foreign NGOs when they know that they are rubbing the govt. wrong way, they shd be very careful about how they operate and not go against the laws of the land.

There could be a possiblity that ESSAR group is influencing Indian govt to act against Green Peace but then its green peace whch is giving the govt. opportunity against them.

Its same world over my friend... hardly 10% of NGOs deliver ... rest are just fronts to save taxes for Corporates.

Is there an over-representation of NGOs in developing countries, I don't doubt some of them are used by countries like the USA as front organisations.

What about amnesty international?? Shut down that bogu crap!!!

.
I wanna sign a petition against these good for nothing NGO's who do nothing but leech and exploit people for money:big_boss:

Yes.. because global powers use these NGOs to pull levers across developing world... ask this Greenpeace organization to cry over how they are treated in US... but they will not... because they get money form there.

NEW DELHI: The Centre has cancelled the FCRA licence of Greenpeace India, the NGO claimed in a statement that was confirmed by the home ministry. Loss of FCRA licence means the NGO will not be able to accept foreign donations.

"The Greenpeace legal team has learnt that the Ministry of Home Affairs has notified the Delhi high court that Greenpeace's FCRA registration has been cancelled. This news comes just a day before a scheduled hearing at the Delhi high court that was examining the merits of MHA's arbitrary action," the NGO's statement said.

Interim co-executive director of Greenpeace India, Vinuta Gopal, in a statement said that Greenpeace will continue its campaigning undeterred, and "is in fact launching a new creative campaign" to highlight the nationwide crackdown on civil liberties.

"The cancelling of our FCRA registration is the government's latest move in a relentless onslaught against the community's right to dissent. It is yet another attempt to silence campaigns for a more sustainable future and transparency in public processes. Cutting access to our foreign funding may be a desperate attempt to get us to cease our work, but the MHA probably didn't count on our having an amazing network of volunteers and supporters who have helped us continue our work despite the government crackdown. Since the majority of our funding comes from Indian citizens, most of our work can indeed continue. "

We are responding to this latest melodrama by launching a new creative online campaign and are confident that people will show they are ready to fight back in style, and send a clear message to those in power: you just can't muzzle dissent in a democracy," Gopal said.

MHA had frozen bank accounts of Greenpeace besides issuing it a show-cause notice on April 9.

I read somewhere that there are MORE NGOs than schools in india. If every NGO started a school, then they would actually have gone a long way to solving the problems of the very people they claim to be working for.

What about amnesty international?? Shut down that bogu crap!!!
What did they do ?

.
what are the specific reasons that greenpeace was shutdown in India? FCRA is foreign currency regulation act. Did they violate that? I'd like to see some details. Anyone know where I can find them?

Remember the 2 girls rape order by village news circulating around few days ago, Amnesty was the one to start crying and even started a petition campaign against it. Turned out it was a fluke and an Amnesty official said they did not even do their ground work LOL.
