Indian missiles to go vegetarian

. .
It's actually a good move, if true. Although I don't expect the fanboys here to understand why so.

A missile is made to blow but the fact is, most of the missiles in the world have and will, in all probability, never see action.

Which means these missiles will have to be destroyed in a controlled manner by their manufacturer countries once their shelf life is over.

Which obviously signals the need for an environment friendly product.

That was the info you guys needed.

Please carry on with the circus...

Well done India on discovering the veggie missile technology.

You don't 'discover' technology, you 'invent' it.

See! That's why mommy told ya to eat those veggies.

. .
I don't really see how this is funny or something to be mocked at. It is no secret that the world is running out of oil and thus all petroleum products will begin to rise in price significantly. This move is actually very prudent in a number of ways- ensures price stability wrt fuel for the missile, ensures a ready supply of such fuel come what may, does its little part for the environment- just because it's a missile doesn't mean green tech shouldn't be built into it.

Attacking innovation is the work of the uninspired and ignorant.

That's Uncle Kim who feeds on our chinese brothers just like the neighbor that surrounds us from 3 sides feeds on us.:coffee:
Now it's irony buddy, since when did 2 Billion $ GDP economy started feeding on 108 million $ GDP economy ???
Please take note of scale up ratio, I guess it might be 18:1.

DIAT develops cheap, eco-friendly missile fuel Friday, May 24, 2013, 10:20 IST | Place: Pune | Agency: DNA The product is made from Indian plant & being tested at Chandigarh lab. Tweet 5 India’s missile
project is
likely to get
boost with the
country
advancing towards
making
indigenous
fuel for
supersonic
missiles and the fuel is developed by city-based Defence Institute of Advanced Technology (DIAT). The missile fuel is eco-friendly, made from an Indian plant and is being tested at a
Chandigarh-based laboratory. The fuel has been developed by a team of DIAT
researchers which was led by city-based researcher SG Kulkarni. Kulkarni was working on development of fuel used for scramjet and ramjet engine used
in missiles. He has been developing fuel for the next generation Pulse Detonation Engine
(PDE), which will be used in supersonic missiles. Speaking to dna Kulkarni said, “India has been importing missile fuel which is of high cost and is made of synthetic material, which can be hazardous. After extensive
research, we have come up with a missile fuel, which is made from a plant. The new
fuel, being a product from a plant, is a renewable source of energy. It is a low-cost fuel
compared to the imported fuel. Once the fuel is approved at all the levels, it will be a
major break through for India’s missile programme.” At present, the new fuel is being tested at the Terminal Ballistic Research Laboratory in
Chandigarh and the results are quite encouraging. “Worldwide research is going on fuel used for PDE, which is the advanced application
for low subsonic to high supersonic engines used for missiles and jet engines. We were
also working on this hydrocarbon-based fuel for PDE application and the results are
promising.” DIAT’s vice-chancellor Dr Prahlada, said, “The fuel will be cheap. There has been no
compromise in terms of the fuel’s compatibility with other fuels. It is comparable with
world-class JP-10 fuel, which is synthetic-based fuel.”

Eco friendly is not vegetarian you dimwitted baboon:hitwall:.Conventional missile fuels produce aluminum oxide and acidic gasses, such as hydrogen chloride during combustion. These are highly corrosive and toxic, and can be extremely harmful to the environment..Eco friendly fuels will have non-toxic and non-hazardous by products.

.
I dont know man...
This news is so funny .. It says 'eco friendly missile fuel'
When is a missile used for environment conservation ?

Probably safer for storage/test firing. There are hardly any chances of wars.

No..
It is vegetarian as the article says the fuel is being made from a plant.....

It will be good to see a missile carrying half megaton nuke....conserving enviroment on its way to annihilating everything within miles

So where do think the fossil fuels came from Mars??.Its from the dead plants.By your definition they must also be vegetarian.:hitwall:
PS.its not just the missiles using.Civilian rockets will also make extensive use of it.NASA is also developing similar fuels for their rockets. Its intended to make space travel less costly.
