Indian minister demands inquiry into team’s defeat against Pakistan

Indian Minister of State for Social Justice Ramdas Athawale has sought an inquiry into India’s defeat against Pakistan in ICC Champions Trophy final last month.

“India had defeated Pakistan in the earlier match. How can such a strong team lose to its arch-rivals Pakistan in the final by 180 runs?" Athawale was quoted by Indian media as saying on Friday.

Indian team which had earlier defeated Pakistan by 124 run in their opening match was thrashed in the final of the Champions Trophy. .

Pakistan crushed defending champions India by 180 runs at The Oval to win the Champions Trophy for the first time on June 18.

A century by Fakhar Zaman and a devastating bowling display by Pakistan ended India's hopes of becoming the first team to capture the title three times.

Hundreds of fans gave Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed and his men a hero’s welcome as he arrived home carrying the ICC Champions Trophy.

Two things are obvious. First Ramdas Athawale knows nothing about cricket. If India did beat Pak in their pool match, that doesn't really mean Pak could not thrash India and with such an impunity. That's why cricket is cricket. That's the beauty of this game.
Second, Ramdas Athawale seems to be a mental case. Some people enjoy misery. He wants Indians keep 'enjoying' their defeat for longer. After all, Ramdas Athawale is a minister in Modi's cabinet.

Then you only watch matches where India win or forget rest. Since 2009 record is 7-5 in India favor, it's not even domination. Pakistan have worst record against other teams because Misbha ruined our ODI team. But Pakistan won ODI series in India 2013.

Ramdas Athawale accuses Virat Kohli, others of 'fixing' ICC Champions Trophy final

Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has accused Indian cricketers Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and others in the Indian team of "fixing" the ICC Champions Trophy final match with Pakistan and demanded an inquiry into India's defeat.

"With a coach like Anil Kumble, players like Kohli, Yuvraj and several others who batted so well in the entire tournament, how could we lose to a team like Pakistan? It is a shameful thing for our country" Athawale told media on Friday after attending meetings with district officials in Vadodara, Gujarat.

"They hit so many centuries in this tournament. What happened to them during the final match?" the Republican Party of India leader questioned.

Pakistan won the tournament with a 180-run victory over India in the June 18 final. The margin of victory was the largest by any team in the final of an ICC One Day International (ODI) tournament. "It seems that this match was fixed. I demand an inquiry into it," Athawale said.

The Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment also demanded a reservation of 25 per cent for the Dalit community in cricket and other games. "Those who can't perform, should now relax and deserving cricketers from the Dalit community should be given a chance to come ahead. I demand 25 per cent reservation for them in cricket and other games," Athawale said.
