Thanks bro but actually I wanted to mention newer generation gyros like fibre optics and MEMS which is replacing ring laser.

Yes bro, MEMS has the potential to completely replace the RLG somewhere in the future as it's disadvantages are being progressively smoothened out.

Though, I'm pretty confidant that apart from applications where size does matter (like arty warheads or ATGMs) RLGs are here to stay for quite a while.


On a sidenote,

We have developed a two axis and three axis based FOG for the MBT Arjun and an ATGM.

Also some great work is being carried out on application of MEMS in future indian SONARs. Ref--DSS 2009

Have you guys seen how many many times THAAD failed during the testing stages ??/ I mean Indian BMD is way better than that. As far as i remember it was only one time and that time also the attacking missile failed not the interceptor. Interceptor did the same job what it was suppose to do in that situation.

Yes, Barak-8 has missile defence capability. But not sure if it includes BM as well. It might be capable of destroying short range BM.

I don't think so. Its a point-defense missile system on warships, defending against aircraft, anti-ship missiles, and UAVs. BMs does not come in the picture.

THAAD did indeed failed many times back in the 90s. Since late 90s and 2000s, it has a high success rate. So its now a deployed missle system. The army has two batteries of it ready. I believe the PAD is at least10 years behind in development time and its not as capable as THAAD. maybe the next version could be as good as THAAD.
