The Indian Navy and Coast guard foiled an attack by Somalian pirates on a foreign merchant vessel 'MV Full City', with Chinese crew members, about 900 kms from the coastline in Indian waters.
A Naval aircraft reached the spot yesterday within 30 minutes of receiving a SOS from the merchant vessel, official sources here said adding the Coast guard helping in the operations.
The pirates were forced to evacuate the vessel and subsequently the 24 crew members regained control.
There were no arrests or injury to any of the crew, the sources added.
