Indian MI chief visited Kabul to assess situation
NEW DELHI, Jan. 16 (APP) In the wake of US President Barack Obama’s policy to start withdrawing forces from Afghanistan in 2011, Indian Army’s intelligence chief Lt Gen R K Loomba paid a quiet trip to Afghanistan last week to assess the situation there, an army officer said.
“Director General of Military Intelligence Lt Gen R K Loomba was in Afghanistan last week to meet officers of the Afghan National Army (ANA) and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) of the NATO countries,” media reports quoting an Army officer said here on Saturday.
Loomba visited ANA headquarters, where he met senior officers and also held talks with ISAF commanders.
The Indian Army is already present in Afghanistan imparting training to ANA officers at its defence institutions, the officer said.
