Well putting aside the title which is a good play on words. Fact is that Indian media is highly questionable. Based o. Sensationalism and TRP they lose self control and often exaggerate news in such a way that it becomes a lie for extreme exaggeration is nothing but falsehood. We have seen it here from the chest thumping of Russian exercise cancellation, to the calls of complete isolation and to even go so far as to show electricity protest in AK and GB as independence protest.
Using the form of " our sources" they disgustingly post it as truth.
Is our media perfect. Nope it has it's own flaws but I have seen both medias and I would say our media acts more mature. Of course you can call my nationality as bias. Quite frankly I don't care as its my own opinion.
@Joe Shearer you once said that media in India is taken in a non serious manner by the intellectuals. The question is how do the masses treat it. I personally believe that media is an opinion maker bcz it knows that the High majority will believe what it states be it lies or exaggeration. It is this realization that our media is now a pillar of power amongst the four pillars that project strong power. Media, state, military and courts. No matter how much of a joke the masses will believe the media bcz there is no other source of information even in this electronic age available to the masses especially considering the factor of human bias that believes what it wants to believe rather than what it should. Critical thinking is not available to the masses.
The media is a power that is unstoppable and the only one that can place moral restrictions on it is the media itself for the state, judiciary and military intervention will be seen as an act against free media. The thing is that those that enjoy power and have power seldom place limitations on themselves.
I remember when Indian media was posting old pictures and videos to showcase separatist movements in pakistan and we were debunking them, I clearly stated that we cannot keep doing this and our reach is highly limited as 1.5 billion people will see it and believe it.
I believe that in the future we will see even more lower depths of reporting.
