Indian LCA Tejas Or Pakistani JF-17: Who Is Winning The Malaysian Fighter Jet Contract?

Astra is not even half of the range of PL15 being offered in JF17 Block3

May be we are keeping it as a surprise for you people as our DG ISPR has said on more than one occasions.
Can your JF-17 use the full range of PL-15? Your radar range limits your A2A missile capabilities.

170++ km for 5m2 target for klj7a. pretty sure PL15 range is around 150km so more then enough
 
I am not into Tejas vs j17 debate. But some info are incorrect. Cm400 isn't integrated with JF17. It was said to be integrated and has one picture with it at most.
Same goes for Raad , or KH missiles for Tejas. It's not that difficult to integrate missiles but it's not easy task either.

Integrating missile will not be very difficult if plane has open system architect. It allows easy integration. In other case, the software languages can be a major hurdle in Integration. For example, an American missile is hard to integrate with Russian plane and vice a versa. Open system architecture makes the task easy. Same is the case with modular design. It is easy to replace a part in same kind of design. India strictly follow modular designing approach in its weapon development.

The MOST SHOCKING thing i have learnt is the contract with China is for 30 planes only in block 3 version only.

Why am i shocked ............. Well you have spent 10 years inducting 120+ Block 1 & 2 with all metal alloy airframes and there are rumours of fatigue on some planes already. No surprise there All the euro canards come with composites. The flight control is single axis FBW once again trying to reduce cost you have cut corners and increased manuel control needs so more work for pilot .

You learnt lessons and are overcoming these deficiences in block 3 versions ... but now we are told only 30 planes thats 1.5 sqaudrons.

Whilst you can spend another 5 years upgrading the block 1 & 2 cockpit with Aesa FCR and ew suites and other sensors like MAWS you cannot change the airframe deficiency .

This is where india got it right ordering only 40 block 1 Tejas and then 83 much more advanced mark1a

By the way somebody joked Tejas on Truck versis JF17 block 3 . that jokes a bit tiresome and dated now

They have intergrated both Derby BVR and Python 5 hobs missles
Remember these 40 planes come with HMD and quadruplex fbw and composites in version 1 NOT in version 3 which you guys will not have until 2022

By the time you induct 30 mark 3 Thunders by 2024-2025 their version mark1a will be in full production

Pakistanis wont like this last remark but you guys are testing and improving your thunder in chengdu and adding chinease radar and weapons

Indians are testing and improving at home in india with both Indian & israeli weapons and sensors .

Air frame fatigue test was simulated well in advance in Tejas so there is no issue. Software developed for such sort of application was sold to Airbus and other customers. A comprehensive aerodynamic study was conducted on Tejas to improve its performance. In this study, following broad area was identified.

1) Canopy redesign to reduce drag by 6 count.
2) Rare fuselage redesign to reduce drag.
3) Payloan redesign for drag reduction.
4) Air intake redesign to improve power delivery
5) Weight reduction
6) Supersonic fuel tank redesign with additional 300 kg fuel with only marginal drag increase

This will result into

1) 20% improvement in Transonic acceleration.
2) 2% improvement in highest speed
3) 60 KG additional internal fuel
4) 3% improvement in power delivery
5) Range improvement by at least 300 km i.e above 2000 km without fuel tank
6) Service ceiling increase to 18000 meter.
7) Weight carrying above 4+ ton
8) Improvement in AOA by 2*
9) Lowest speed just 80 nautical mile is achieved. However, if speed goes bellow 100 nm, Software will take control of plane and stabilize it.

In addition to this, lots of safety and health monitoring software are installed including auto pilot incase of pilot looses control in case of very high G maneuvers.

Tejas was designed as Mig 21 replacement with 2000 kg payload as CAS fighter but we turned it into a highly versatile Multi roll fighter. Now when we are able to make 110 kn class engine of our own, It will be fully indigenous top class fighter of the class. I think only Gripen C/D belongs to this category.

PL-15 is a 350km range missile, plus most aircrafts are 3m2 in RCS.
 
Do some research first. Or go ask other more well informed Pakistani posters. Or better still, go ask the Pakistanis beloved Alan Warnes, since it was he who first confirmed this..the version of the KLJ-7A selected for the JF-17 Blk 3 is the Air cooled version. Poor choice, I know, but that's what's been chosen.

Probably due to the desire to upgrade Block 2 with the AESA as well. Block 2 will find it very hard to be upgraded with the liquid cooled AESA as compared to Air cooled AESA.
Quwa is nothing and come with better source or did the typo in this article, we clearly see there were no KLJ-7A air cooled version of AESA in 2020 China airshow here on Chinese defense section, there is only one Air cool AESA from China its is LFK-601 from a different company can i post a pics of that specific AESA to you, KLJ-7A is a rounded AESA whereas LFK-601 is a squared AESA and do research before you post
