Friendly relations between India and pakistan is not possible unless we stop procrastinating the core issues between the two countries. First and foremost, kashmir issue need to be taken upfront and dealt with without any back burner nonsense. We are trying to ignore the elephant in the room by all the trade and cricket candyfloss diplomacy especially when two of the most potent militaries in the world are on constant alert to fight to the brink of devastation.
In my honest opinion, the conflict has and always will remain due the strategic nature of the region. Both the forces have have found glaring domestic issues in the other side and have turned them into state sponsored conflicts, and both the civilian governments have let their military dictate their foreign policy vis-a-vis each other. The fact of the matter is there is no issue between the two countries that leads to direct confrontation between the two, hence the military planners have to devise out escalation routines of regional issues to secure their own strategic objective.
Civilian governments in both the countries have extremely myopic vision and lack flair of positive leadership. Both leaderships try to cut the legs underneath their own own people making trivial issues as their core issues and ensure petty differences are maintained for election gains, each and every constituency has a well veiled discriminatory agenda against some sect, religion, creed, language or race, and we the common people have no options and have at last stopped giving a hoot about the bigger picture of regional co-operation and prosperity.
And then there are the jingos, who come out on street and scream murdabad and murdabad, but when push comes to shove the same streets are empty. Thousands of relegious , right left, center forward wings will participate in flag burning events, but none of them will do a damn thing about nation building in their respective nations.
And then there are these aman ki asha idiots, who want to sweep every issue between the two countries under the carpet, and sing "yeh dostii". Realism, pragmatism are completely missing from every peace initiatives, both countries fail to realise their core issue. Both sides will buying artillery, tanks to feel secure against an enemy that they are too afraid to sit and talk to, to solve the issues.
I really have no hopes from either side anymore.
