I met a person in Dubai from Delhi...he narrates me that his friend told him a couple both Gurus...he fell pray and stated to attend often these Gurus and one day he was invited by them in a secret place near Delhi where they were offered alcohol and allow us to indulge in sexual orgies with other female disciples...after attending few times these orgies Guru call him and ordered him to bring his wife and sister to the ashram otherwise he will face serious consequences.....He have to run for life and moved to another state.

Most people at BPL level and informal sector are simple and religious in nature. While superstition exists in some cases but its not as prevalent as someone guesses. The problem is "poverty". I guess its the same case in Pakistan too. So when someone comes up and says that he will solve all his problems (thsts where most of our govts have failed coz they could be the mainstream, so alternatives creeped in) , they will follow them blindly.

Its not about superstition, its about poverty. All the big guys who follow the gurus are actually smart. Through the guru they wield the power over the poor. Its the reality.
