30th October, 2011 is going to be an epic day for India because, for the first time in the history, India will be the hosting a Formula 1 race at the Jaypee Group circuit in Greater Noida.Tickets for this season’s inaugural Indian Grand Prix are expected to be going on sale by the end of the month, according to race organisers, who will see Formula 1 travel to Greater Noida for the first time at the end of October. The capacity for the brand-new venue will be 110,000, with the race hosting Round 17 of the current 19 races on the schedule, although Bahrain still needs to be re-added. “We will open online booking for the event within a month,”a spokesperson for the Indian Grand Prix is quoted as saying by ESPN. “ The ticket prices will also be fixed soon.Ticket slabs are likely to ensure entry for students as well as corporate entities, as we want to attract racing enthusiasts from every strata of the society.”:)

^^^^The speedy construction of a world class race track was possible only due to the participation of PRIVATE firms!!!If GoI had taken this responsibility, then it would have cost us another 1.60 Lakh Crores and it would have been completed(?) 20 minutes before the scheduled race!!!!

a) It IS a private track. Indian govt isn't interested in making something like this.

b) The track isn't complete yet.

I said "if" the GoI was involved!!
b) The track isn't complete yet.
I meant that it is being constructed and is on schedule!!!
My answers in green.

So making F1 tracks is progress?

I'd rather the govt. spends money on something which affects the common people than solely the rich.

Yes,it is progress in that particular field, especially for motorsport enthusiasts like me.Also, you are contradicting your old post that the GoI is not involved in this and it IS a private track!!!So the GoI is not spending on it but is getting paid(entertainment tax......etc)!!!

The Officials also said
The work on the Jaypee Circuit is going on in full swing and the right on schedule. The track is expected to be ready by July.

Hey, I'm not knocking on the Private sector for making this investment. It's their money and they can do whatever they want with it. And I'm an F1 enthusiast as well, so I welcome this track.

However, I don't think investing in an F1 track is something which the govt should be involved in. I'd rather the govt. improved water and law & order situation in Greater Noida where this race is going to be held.
