I think there should be no excuse to cover up own lack of commitment on the part of any law enforcement agencies by blaming the media that due to their coverage of any attack, the attackers got leverage.
No one is denying that there were lapses in terms of security. They were also being looked into. GoI has taken several steps in regard of nation security and counter terrorism. Also stress is given on intellgence mechanism, costal security, coordination etc. etc...
All around the world live coverage is carried out by media houses nothing wrong with that.
Nothing wrong in live coverage. However displaying dead bodies or sensitive security related matters (such as position/timing/strength of forces) can not serve any fruitful purpose.
As far as self-regulatory measures by Indian media well i must say that Indian media is 99% nationalistic and the decision is in line with this attitude.
Good to see that national media is alive upto national interests. There is no restriction on media in any way.
