Indian goods seized as Customs Collectorate ramps up anti smuggling drive

ISLAMABAD – Model Customs Collectorate Islamabad stepped up its anti-smuggling drive on the instructions of member Customs Jawwad Agha and seized goods worth millions.

In its fresh operation on Saturday, two trucks loaded with transit goods, including Indian origin goods were seized by MCC Islamabad.

Moreover, huge quantity of Indian silk fabric, milk and other smuggled goods were seized by the anti-smuggling team of Islamabad customs on Islamabad Peshawar Lahore motorway near Kalar Kahar.

The fresh seizure is a second major confiscation in a month by Islamabad Customs wherein Indian origin goods were seized along with other transit goods.

The collectorate also seized smuggled vehicles worth over 60 million rupees in a single week. The department has seized goods worth over 170 million PKR in August alone.

Fellows, this is just drop in the Ocean. The indian stuff being illegally imported into Pakistan is massive. Sorry to say this but this is purely cheap publicity by the Government. If IK government does not take "Real Steps" in the next few months to restrict indian goods, and not to ban Indian flights, then IK would be nothing more than a person with a big fat mouth with Zero actions. In other words, "All Talk and Bullshi.t walks."

60 million is nothing ... an average smugled vehicle can cost between 3 to 4 million by that standard its not more than 15 vehicles which is nothing as we have thousands of such vehicles

Vehicles are smuggled via Afghanistan so that will be managed via the border fencing on the western front.
Indian goods are either smuggled through the internationla border or brought via gcc or sirilanka. Stopping via 3rd country is all together another ball game and would take lots and lots of efforts

If transit route will remain open between India-Afghanistan, smuggling could still happen
So we need that closed , or Afghanistan should transfer good via train , which goes thru customs and sales tax and duty is paid on that shipment
